| MONOMAD | The outsider's lens

In the evenings, they gather on the basketball court to test their skills. I don't know how long they have been doing it, as I am just the outsider who comes back to the town occasionally, and it all seems so fresh in front of my eyes.

I tried to remember the times I played there with my 5th or 6th grade classmates in elementary school, and no precise images came back... yes, I know, I wasn't good at the sport, so I just forgot about it.

_1370288.JPG

I was just passing by and the voices of the boys mobilised me. I walked in and within seconds I was on the court looking through the lens, like the outsider I always was in Candelaria.

_1370285.JPG

I smiled warmly, they returned the gesture and I think they were even emboldened. After all, what was happening to them was so strange.

_1370286.JPG

_1370287.JPG

But a stranger taking pictures is no reason to tie your hormones like shoelaces.

_1370290.JPG

And I sometimes think I manage to be invisible.

_1370283.JPG

It's funny how it took me only 5 minutes to make these captures. This can be seen in the image data; however, I feel I spent more time there.

image.png

Was this feverish, invisible outsider in her element? I think she was... 😅

_1370279.JPG

It's so nice when life surprises you. You won't believe it but was the first and only time I took pictures in this place.

_1370276.JPG

Maybe my mom knows some of these boys. Like... look, that's Teresita's grandson! 😄

_1370282.JPG

And life continued surprising me when a while ago I decided to write this post and saw the photos I took that day.

I honestly thought they would be useless 🙂.

We believe it dear invisible and feverish reporter, for sure five minutes can be a world. And it is true that it is very beautiful that life surprises us, I'm glad you are better and that you let yourself be surprised.

Hugs @nanixxx

😉 It looks like there are things there on the memory card that I will be able to work with. I never let the virus take me down more than necessary.
Nice day for Enraizar! And my hug.

I don't think you can be invisible in people's eyes, even I have thought I was invisible lately. There are so many problems piling up today that people look but don't see. You ran away from my birthday but your instinct led you to take those natural photos of what young people do on such a hot afternoon. They grow up so fast that I can't identify any of them but they must be grandchildren of someone I know. A lot of memories that court gave you. Excellent photos. Have a nice week, daughter.❤️❤️❤️

You ran away from my birthday

Mamani, mira que eres exagerada. Solo fui a tomar airecito y a aprovechar la luz para hacer unas fotos. 😁

I am usually invisible .... common point. The pictures are super cool, the movements tell a story of play and fun, plus a silent spectator who just watches.... and takes great pictures!

I wasn't really complaining, on the contrary, it's something that on ‘certain occasions’ like this, I really enjoy. Being invisible allows you to be a better observer.

Thanks for the compliments on my photos. 😉

Being invisible allows you to be a better observer.

Totally agree!

I often feel like I'm invisible with the camera, noticing things others don't and almost like a ghost in public. It's quite a nice experience to have. That outsider feeling like nobody is aware of your presence yet the world continues on as you observe.

I completely agree with you. It is as if we have a mission to observe without being disturbed. 😅

Am I understanding this correctly; your camera, the thing you capture time with, doesn't moonlight as a phone?

Pffffffff... apparently sometimes not. 🤣

This time I was carrying the Panasonic Lumix G10, a rather old camera with mould in the viewfinder, some buttons that don't work, but still, it sometimes manages something ‘decent’.

Mold and hoops, though, I mean, unless we're talking about a backwards cash register that pays you and gives you items rather than charge for items cash registers are famous for, tough to compete with mold and hoops.

Can you search the web and respond to emails with it?

Hi <3

When I was a kid—old enough to die in the name of freedom but too young to drink, legally, I met and became good friends with a dude named José, originally from Cuba. My autocorrect typed scuba just now—bad autocorrect, bad! We met at a construction job and then quit together and rehired at a warehouse 60 miles away.

I had bigger plans. We stayed in contact for 3-4 years.

We've since lost touch but his survival story floating on a makeshift raft in search of a better life is so incredible it's hard to believe.

When you're on my screen, I'm reminded of our fun times. Those were the days. Back before, well, before everything that happened the previous 25 years.

You remind me of good times.

Sometimes I feel a bit desperate but not to the point of throwing myself into the sea on a raft. I know that many souls find no other way out. Some make it to their destination and many do not.
I want to travel the world and take pictures, it's my dream. Hopefully one day I will achieve it.

You are not invisible to the eyes of the others, they are just concentrating hehe

All photography is very useful, only in it you can capture the moments and preserve them with the passing of time.

When we forget that day, the photos will remind us of it 🦉

A little black and white basketball time, and it's true there are little moments where you can take a few pictures without knowing it.

Hi, my friend. Candelaria is the town where my parents live and it is very picturesque. I didn't spend much time there, but I managed to do some street photography in less than an hour. Pictures will be coming in.

Thank you.

A lot of great shots despite you not being there long. I appreciate the pick up street ball games through your photos. It brings me back when I did this activity but now I see a different piece of me doing it through my son. So Amiga not worthless at all to my eyes. You kind of put me in a reflection trance 😁 Thanks for sharing them I very much enjoyed them.

Useless at all, you manage to capture the essence of every moment, you make magic with that camera... I feel that when you got there you felt a deja vu for what you saw and heard, you smiled and managed to find art in something so everyday.... Inspiring dear Nanix! 😘

They do take it seriously and don't have a match referee, so that's why they sometimes get into fights hahaha....

Thanks! 😉
