| MONOMAD | A race photographed at low speed
How I wish I had a Nikon D850 π
(sigh)...
However, while this dream comes true, I do the best I can with my Panasonic Lumix G10.
I was waiting for this moment to share with you these images of the 37th edition of the Havana Marathon, which as always was held for the birthday of our city and for the Day of Physical Culture and Sport.
It was also dedicated to Mexico, a country with a large representation of runners and to the centenary of JosΓ© RamΓ³n FernΓ‘ndez (1923-2019), honorary life president of the Cuban Olympic Committee.
The first challenge for me, since the race started at 6 am, in total darkness, was to get the most out of my camera.
Depending on the light conditions (in this case very poor) sports photography requires higher ISO values. With my camera I can't use values above 800 ISO, as the photos would be too noisy.
So, the shutter speed used in sports photography must be high, to freeze the movement... I was tied hand and foot (or I don't know, should I say, tied up with light?).
I remember my photography teacher at the University, Felix Arencibia, who is no longer with us, always said that a photographer has to know his equipment very well and in that relationship, besides having a great capacity for improvisation, is where the magic happens.
This is my participation in the #Monomad and I want to dedicate it to him, whom I always have in mind, for his good and timely teachings.
Marabana is one of the events I most enjoy photographing for Bohemia Magazine. In this link you can see some color photos, already published there.
My performance requires dynamism, but I owe it in large part to the skill of the driver. This time, the person assigned to move me during the race did an excellent job. The streets where this race takes place are closed, so he had to know the shortcuts to put me in the places I planned, fast but at the same time very careful, because driving requires great concentration and responsibility.
From here I can't tell that they are low speed photos. It was already daylight, but the sun was not so strong, which was great for everyone, including me.
This was my participation here in the Monomad, in November last year when this race was held.

Excellent photographs, it is always a visual feast that marathon. It is quite difficult to photograph in those conditions, Congratulations!π
Eddy π... Yes it was difficult, but I like a challenge. The truth is that I enjoyed it a lot although the fatigue afterwards was tremendous.
Thanks! and welcome to Monomad, I saw your post and it's great.
Thanks!π
your photos are very nice, I like the way you take pictures
Thank you, I'm glad you like them. π€
It gives analogy touch ;)
Actually, yes, motion in sports has its charm. Thanks alt3r glad you are active again :P
You did a great job! pictures are wonderful!
Thank you Pinero. Sometimes it works out better than others.
I know how much effort you put in to make that work come out this nice and good. The effort was worth it and you have been congratulated. ππ ππ
Oh, mamani, I'm sorry I didn't even let you sleep well that night.
Very good photos, friend, what an opportunity you had to be able to take the photo report of this sporting event. Thank you for always sharing your work with us.

Oh, the two labradors are participating every year? I opened the post from the last year you left the link to. Indeed, there were those two labradors πΆπΆ That's cool! :))

Did you see the Bohemia link too?

Very good photos my dear. Congrats.
Thank you π.
What a wonderful slow motion photography, slow motion, great! I really liked the one with the dogs. Another thing is that you are a genius when it comes to improvisation, that's what practice and talent lead you to!
Big hug Nani!π€
πΈπ π₯ It is truly a joy to know that you liked these images. Jjjjj... I'm the πͺ genie and I fly on a carpet. π€£
I'm already imagining a genie on the carpet flying, ideal for a design.... everything I imagine hahaha
I like the pictures You show us. It capture so much feeling un this competition. A competition with Oneself. A hug for you
One day I am going to participate in Marabana as a runner, at least in 10 km task. π
It is a great idea. Invite to me. I Will be at your side giving You support from a car with the cameras π
Don't tell me, how funny you are. You run beside me. π
No matter the camera, the quality is in you. The photos are great. I've always heard that sports photography has its difficulties and in those conditions even more.
How cute the labradors π₯°, I hadn't seen them before.
Thanks Nani for always giving us great posts with even better images. Hugs.
La foto del apitolio...sin palabras.
Those Labrador retrievers always remind me of my Frida. What a doggy that one to be smart, my goodness. Although she was black and with a huge heart. I will never forget her.
How cute Frida. Someone to love forever π₯°.
π
Gracias, @mdrguez aka amandita. jajaja
Jajajajaja
The photos are spectacular; I don't think a better camera could improve them. Have a nice day
Oh, thank you! But yes, believe me the difference is noticeable. π€
I understand the desire to improve; but I think you will agree that Robert Capa or AgustΓ Centelles took magnificent portraits of reality with unsophisticated cameras. The art is in the artist: talent and dedication. I still think your photos are very good. And having said that I hope you will soon be able to get a better camera. Regards
Ah, of course... I had missed this comment. That's why you were saying that other one. π I got it! Well yes, you are 100% right. Those great masters of photography had less powerful cameras than those of today.
... and thank you π
π
Me reading you and not understanding anything about how to capture pictures hahaha watch your head! π²
Photography is a more difficult art than I imagined, you have my respects β€οΈ
I loved grandpa, with so much vitality and me not being able to breathe if I walk fast hahaha
What a wonderful work! β€οΈ
The best thing about photography is that you are never done learning. And another interesting thing is that even if we are in the same place and looking at the same thing, our photos will never be the same.
;)
Thank you.
wow! only just seen this upload! stunning captures all the better for being mono fantastic
π Difficulty makes us grow, don't you think? Hahaha... the only thing I wasn't happy with here (I confess) was the eyes of the Labrador retrievers... that photo I had to take with flash and you know, then correct the eyes, and it didn't look good at all.
It is only now that they do seem only slightly strange, but thats just being over critical. I really hate using flash,
I hated it too. But in that darkness I had no choice. π
