Opening of My Initiative Children Basketball League
A few weeks ago I distributed a Solicitation letter in the Hive Community and in the Community where I am. Sadly, I didn’t receive support of what I need ut even so, I’m so determined of sharing fun and love because it’s Christmas. Despite the small amount I needed, I’m still thankful for those people who offered their support to me. I saved a little amount of money, added with the contribution of other people. That’s why today, at 2 in the afternoon, we opened the basketball league together with the few numbers of children who participated the game.
The community supported me through presenting themselves what they could do. One of the teen agers stepped on to be the muse of our quiet parade. It was a quiet because there were no drums or other instruments to make a noise when we took steps on someone’s door. My apologies since it was me who initiated this but then I started it poorly. I don’t have much to make this event flawless, so all I can offer is to offer them prizes but only for a small amount. The fun was the first on my mind when I decided to start a basketball league.
I mean, this is Christmas so before celebrating the Christmas day I was to longer having fun with the people. Even with my incompetence to start a very fun event like this, I still did it. We took a parade in the whole Brgy., from end to end to let the people in the community know about our activity. I was embarrassed at first when we started walking as I was in the front or the first in the parade. I thought people saw me as a boastful one to initiate an event like this. It was just my negative emotion because when we passed in houses and with people gathered. They teased me and joked at me about initiating a game for them as well. I just replied to them with a smile because I knew it’s impossible since there was no money for it.
I spent some of my personal money in this activity but I don’t feel like I’m wasting my money. It feels like accomplishment and happiness too. When I saw many people gathered around the court to watch the game with a single ring on it. It felt so amazing, by just looking the people enjoyed the game with these children.
It will only take for 3 days but it’s okay as long as there’s an activity to make the people happy before the day of Christmas. When I moved here from the day I got married I noticed this small village so quiet during Christmas. I thought Christmas should be full of joy, so this is the reason why I hosted this kind of activity to make this small village whom to be my new home will be a livelier one.
I just wish that in the future, next, next Christmas to come many people will support us to continue this simple-kind activity.
