The 2026 World Cup qualifiers have begun in different continents of the world and football fans have tuned in to watch their national teams display tact. Unfortunately, most national teams have underperformed. In this post, I will give a record of teams that have failed to meet up to expectations.

Rwanda vs South Africa

This was a crucial match in the qualifiers for South Africa to have an easy passage but the guys ditched it. Being the favorites, the South African team played less than expected and lost two nil to the underdog, Rwanda.

It was so shocking to anyone who has been following the trends in football for Rwanda to have shocked the whole of Africa for having passed two goals through the South African goalpost.

Comoros vs Ghana

This is yet another surprise. Ghana was the favorite for this match but it's unfortunate to see the team losing to Comoros. Anyway, in football, there is no permanent champion. It saddens the mind to see the mighty falling like a pack of cards.
Comoros is not known as a footballing nation and is not considered a match for Ghana but they pulled a stun on Ghana. Winning one goal to nil shows how much they defended their goal and got their three clear points.

With the crop of players representing Ghana, the match ought to have been a walk over for the black stars. More than half of the team play advanced football across Europe and are in competitive leagues. What the heck could be their excuse not to have the Comoros team?

Nigeria vs Lesotho

Nigeria present a hub of football in Africa with the number of players from this giant of Africa playing in Europe, Asia, and other parts of the world. This Nigerian Super Eagles and the national team is best known, ought to their worth on the field of play but the reverse was the case.

Currently, two players (one male and one female) Victor Osimen (Napoli Striker) and Asizat Oshoola (FC Barcelona Female Team) have been nominated as layers of the year and are also gunning for best player award in Europe. Though, Osimen did not play in this match, there are other top players that were present in that match, yet they played a draw.

The players have been receiving backlash on their social media handles for their below sat dard display.

Few days before the match against Lesotho, the super eagles had played a one all draw with Zimbabwe national team. It now appeared that the lads are not ready to play in the 2026 World Cup tourney.

The super eagle players have taken time to appeal to the Nigerian fans that they will ensure that they qualify for the World Cup. However, some analyst have pound that the team is not prepared for the task that comes with the World Cup, as such, they should not qualify.
