Simple and hardy shrubs, that's what lilacs are. Most of the year they're nothing special, growing somewhere in a corner of the garden or a park or perhaps 'in the wild'. But right now in the Northern Hemisphere, lilacs are in flower. Their blossoms, from white to dark purple, are plentiful and their fragrance is overwhelming.
