Oye Como Va: April 15 2025

It's not difficult to get my steps in while on vacation, but it is difficult to post the results. Today we had a port call and I was able to get online so that I could post this. Even though I spent most of the time just lounging out by the pool, I was able to get quite a good amount of steps in and a good amount of floors climbed. It turns out you have to do some pretty decent work in order to get to a spot where you can relax. Funny enough, I think that's true for most things in life.
Even with all the steps, I don't want to give the illusion like I'm actually losing weight on this trip. There's a saying that I once heard that says "You can't outrun the fork". I think that's very much true for me. The best I can hope for right now is to stave off some of the calories. I'll have to hit the gym hard when I get back.
I finished the day with about 10,000 steps and over 139 active minutes. I also had 15 flights of stairs. I also managed to get almost 8 hours of sleep. We'll see how it turned out tomorrow.
Continuing with the theme: Each night I post the song that was playing as I ended the workout and use that as the title for the post for that day. Today's song was Oye Como Va, by Santana. This is the old Santana, not the resurgence of the early 2000s or whatever. I remember listening to this from the LP, that's a wax record for you youngsters. I'm pretty sure I still have this Abraxas album with this exact album cover in my house summer. I love this song and many others from this album. One of my favorites is Samba Pa Ti. You should check it out if you get a chance.

Thanks bro. I have done similar before and had a lot of success. I've got to work on the sleep bit a little more. Well, I've got to work on the bread and rice bit too, but sleep has always been a chronic struggle for me.
