Grieving Day 13 Family Herstory

It was so very difficult what you left on my shoulders to deal with and handle all by my own alone and probably no one ever asked you how you felt, whether they could have helped to make your life a little bit easier, support you in those difficult times when you've been alone with a kid, me, to make it as single mother, so many unfulfilled expectations but you kept going always told me those stories with pride. In my endless and sleepless nights of bureaucracy when you haven't been in this world anymore, I discovered our untold stories of further setbacks, you never gave up. I read about them with comfort, they brought light to my dark moments, soothed my grief, they were the ones keeping me going, too, just as you did your whole life for me.

My Mom with my Grandma, the matriarch. I always told my Mom if she had grown up in a gay family - with two dads - she would have had a happier life with more warm-heartedness and wouldn't have had to search for her mother's unconditional love. Mother-daughter relationships always seem to be difficult in a way. When my Grandpa left this world I was born very close to the date of his death and somehow always seen as his reincarnation, probably because of his many lovers he had, an absolute taboo in Catholic Poland. We often try to say that gender roles don't matter, but they do. One factor so influential that it can maneuver one's life into a different direction.
