My first hiking with my hiking club members

I returned to Japan and decided to join a hiking circle because I had too few friends. LOL. My sister is a member of this club and apparently climbs mountains in the Kinki area several times a month with club members. My parents took me to climb mountains in the 3000m class in Shinshu when I was a child, but I have been away from hiking for 25 years now. My sister joined this hiking club because she remembered her old hiking and climbing experience. We used the equipment my parents had provided for us in the past, such as rucksacks aka backpqck and raincoats, and I bought new hiking shoes, the latest, lightest, and most improved ones. I left home at 5:30 in the morning and headed to the entrance of the Mt.

I transferred from Tennoji Station on the Osaka Kintetsu Line to Kawachi-Nagano Station. From there, I took a bus to the Kongosan Ropeway entrance. It was the first time in a while that I got up early in the morning, so although I felt a bit sleepy, I also felt refreshed. Seeing the dawn after so long made me feel like it would be a special day. I was surprised at the bus stop to see more people than I had expected heading toward the Kongosan Ropeway entrance.

Alright, the climb begins! The club members gathered, and we planned to make imoni (a hearty stew) together near the summit, so we divided up the ingredients we bought in advance and carried them. The food was mainly bought by the organizer and the core members of the club. Since this was my first time joining, I was part of the team carrying the ingredients. As we climbed along the stream, I was a bit impressed that such nature still exists in Kansai region, and it reminded me of hiking in Shinshu. It wasn’t as warm as I expected, so I was glad we didn’t sweat too uncomfortably. A windbreaker was just perfect.

Kongo was the mausoleum and guardian shrine of the Katsuragi family. The Katsuragi family is a prominent family in the Kansai region, and I was impressed to see the mausoleum of successive generations here. The area around the top of the mountain was beautifully maintained, and both the mausoleum and shrine were clean and solemn. I visited the temple thinking how difficult it must have been to build the mausoleum and shrine here. When I gazed at the staring face of Fudo Myoo, it looked as if it would burn away my troubles.

After arriving at the top and taking a break, we moved to a place where we could cook over an open fire. There were about 30 members of the club in total, and they were really handy in peeling the potatoes and cutting the vegetables. I was in charge of adjusting the heat of the firewood, and it took an hour for the large pot to come to a boil. It took longer than I expected, and I realized once again that cooking a large pot takes a lot of time. It took longer than I thought it would, and I felt again that cooking a large pot takes time.I was honestly impatient, but everyone was so nice that they waited for me while chatting and laughing. While we were cooking, we talked with the old circle members about the mountains we had climbed and the circle's activities. I would like to climb 3000m class mountains again with my good friends.

What made me happy was that everyone really enjoyed the food and said it was delicious. The seasonings that the organizers bought were good, and, and at first I thought it was a huge amount of food, but once we started eating it, everyone ate more and more and finished it. When we finished eating the sweet potato stew, we left some of it and made curry udon noodles with curry roux, which was also well received and really tasty. At my age, it takes effort to make friends, and I hope to expand my friendships through sign language circle, mountain climbing circle, and diving circle. I had a really good time and made some great memories.
