Tenjin Matsuri 2024

Yesterday was the Yoimiya of the Tenjin Festival commemorating the anniversary of Sugawara no Michizane's death on the 25th of July, and although the main ceremony is today, yesterday's festival was also very exciting. Coming to the Tenjin Festival reminds me once again that I am back in Osaka. I went with my friend and her husband, and it was truly a lifetime memory. We all walked along the Okawa River at the end of the festival to cool off as we headed home. The humid summer heat was also a symbol of the nights in Osaka, and I have come to love Osaka in that way as well.

昨日は菅原道真の命日を記念する天神祭の宵宮でした。25日は命日で、本宮は今日ですが、昨日のお祭りもたいへん盛りやがっていました。天神祭に来ると、大阪に帰ってきたと改めて実感します。友人夫妻と一緒に行ったのですが、本当に一生の良い思い出になりました。最後は大川沿いをみんなで歩き、涼みながら帰路に着いたのですが湿気の多いこの夏の熱気も大阪の夜を象徴するもので、それも含めて大阪が好きになりました。
