I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood. After returning to Osaka for the first time in a while, I feel that my hometown has been divided into two extremes: those areas that have changed drastically and those areas that have not changed much in the past five years. I felt that the phenomenon that the whole town is not developing as it used to be is happening in Osaka, with the areas and people who can grow even in a recession. Still, the places and people behind cannot keep up. At least, that is how I feel in my parents' neighborhood. There is a polarization between beautiful, fashionable, and modernized neighborhoods and those still retaining a "shitamachi" atmosphere.

ちょっと近所を散歩することにした。久しぶりに大阪に帰ってきて、地元はがらっと変わった地域と、この5年間あまり変化のなかった地域と極端に別れたように感じる。昔のように、町全体が発展すると言った感じではなく発展できる地域や人は不景気の中でも発展するけど、それに乗り遅れた地域や人は気がつけば周りに追い付けなくなっていると言った現象が大阪で起きている気がしました。少なくとも、わたしの実家近所ではその様に感じます。きれいにおしゃれに近代化された町と、下町情緒の残る地域と二極化されて来ている感じがします。

わたしの実家はまさに大阪の下町情緒が残る町で、久々に近所の喫茶店に行ってみました。スウェーデン人のサンボと行ったのですが、喫茶店のおばちゃんは知っている色んな北欧やスウェーデンの話を親しみやすくしてくれました。「ノーベル賞の授賞式があるところやな！」とコーヒーを手際よく準備しながら話してくれました。モーニングセットの時間帯は過ぎてるけど、特別にモーニングセットを用意してくれて、サイフォン式でコーヒーをいれてくれました。トースト、フルーツ、ゆで卵がついて400円！めっちゃ安いのにボリュームもあって大満足でした。。おばちゃん曰く、この頃はスターバックスとか大手がどんどん進出して、この様な町の喫茶店がますます経営が難しくなってきたようです。おばちゃんが入れたコーヒーを飲みながら、町の発展と消えていく昔ながらの町の風景を話しました。こんないい店、もっとずっと続いて欲しいなぁと思いました。
