Ya en los últimos minutos el partido se decidió gracias a una genialidad de Arteta, pues al ver el terrible nivel de Sterling, decidió mover a la banda a Trossard y posicionar por el centro a Mikel Merino como una especie de falso 9, pues a diferencia del belga, el español tenía más movilidad, con la misión clara de llegar al área chica para rematar.
