A memorable weekend!
Have a great week, everyone! Monday is the day to share a bit about what happened over the weekend. Firstly, this is a special Monday for me because I started my vacation from work, so now I have plenty of time to rest and enjoy my time with my family!
This time, I'll start by telling you about my weekend in reverse order. I'll talk about Sunday, which was a more relaxing day of outings, and then about Saturday, which was more eventful.
Sunday began with a stroll in a nearby park where I live. It's a really cool space that was recently inaugurated, and many people are going there to rollerblade and skateboard.
Later on, we were invited by a friend to attend a "Festa Julina" (July Festival) that her theater group was organizing to raise funds.
But have you heard of the "Festa Julina"?
It's a very popular celebration here in Brazil during this time of year, which takes place in the months of June and July. These celebrations are inspired by rural traditions, combining religious, folkloric, and cultural elements. During the "Festa Julina," people dress up in typical attire, such as plaid shirts, straw hats, and country-style dresses.
In addition to the costumes, these parties are characterized by traditional dances and lively choreographies with popular music like forró and baião. Another highlight is the characteristic food of this occasion. We can indulge in a variety of treats. The "quentão" is also a very popular beverage during this time. It's a hot drink that helps cope with the cold weather and is made with the famous Brazilian liquor called cachaça.
Now that you know what this party we attended is about, let me tell you a bit about it.
As I mentioned before, this party was organized by a theater group and took place within a cultural space in my city, which also houses a railway memorial.
I couldn't miss the chance to take some photos of the paintings and statues!
After enjoying a bit of the historical past and spending some time in this kind of museum, I headed to the designated area where the party was happening. Of course, I indulged in the food!
Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of the dances. This is the only picture I took of the party itself.
Well, now let's talk about Saturday...
Saturday was a lot of fun at one of my favorite places in the city. I went to Club Necessaire again, and something really cool happened!
That night, there was going to be a concert by one of my favorite bands, the band Herzegovina. Herzegovina is a post-punk band, a genre of music that I really love. The lead vocalist of this band is Rafael Crespo, a former member of the famous Brazilian band Planet Hemp.
One of the most enjoyable things about that night was discovering that the members of Herzegovina are also fans of ping-pong, just like me. I had the honor of playing several matches with them while we enjoyed chatting and having some cold beers together!
After many matches, it was time for the concert! It was an honor to be so close to these guys before the show, but when the music started, it was thrilling and emotional!
If you want to listen to Herzegovina's music, I'll leave the link to their Spotify profile:
After thoroughly enjoying their show, of course, I had to capture that moment!
In this photo, the band members are present, except for Rafael (the vocalist). I think he had to use the bathroom due to the large amount of beer we consumed, haha! The funny thing about this photo is that the bassist and I were wearing the same shirt, and that became a joke between us!
After the show, it was time to play a few more rounds of ping-pong, but this time with my friends:
It was a memorable night and lived up to all the promised fun! It was great to be there once again and enjoy the good moments that life offers us!
