Rabona - The Season of Stabilization
Hello! Welcome to yet another seasonal Rabona post from me. Season 77 was.. well, exactly how I expected it to be, but the end was definitely quite disappointing, considering how close to the top I got. Even though that disappointment did happen, I am quite satisfied with the overall result and the clear path that my team is taking. As usual, this post will first cover the weekly Rabona challenge from the official account and then I will recount season 77 and look forward to season 78, which will hopefully bring me even more success!
My Favourite Formation
It is quite difficult to choose my favourite formation. The five choices are all equally useful, but then depending on players and the league that I am in, the usage will be vastly different. Currently, I am trying to be quite flexible, but truth be told - I am using 4-2-3-1 in about 80% of my games, with the rest being a mix of 4-4-2 and 4-5-1.
The reason that 4-2-3-1 is such a big part of my games and the one I use the most for now is that in lower leagues most teams use the default 4-3-3. 4-2-3-1 is the strongest counter to it, so I made sure that my players are well-trained at it. That said, I really don't think that it is my favourite - just because it feels so mainstream and obvious as a choice; there is not much thinking behind it, just a good way to beat passively managed teams.
With that, I have to give the top spot to 3-5-2. I have only played that formation once, but I just find it to be so cool exactly for that reason - it is so rare to see it in lower leagues. It is an extremely niche formation simply because no one really plays 4-5-1 and it loses to 4-3-3. On top of that, it loses to 4-4-2, which is a 4-2-3-1 counter, making it an extremely risky choice. It is the ultimate mindgames formation and because of that it really wins my heart.
Stabilization and Looking Up
So.. How was my Season 77? Eh, it wasn't bad at all. As is usual for my team, the start to the season was quite abysmal, getting a mere 7 points in the first 6 fixtures of the season. Even so, it was possible to claw back out of that problem and actually reach top 2, with the same amount of points as the leader. Last 2 fixtures were about to come down to the wire, with my team playing two teams that were fighting the relegation battle.. Interestingly enough, I only got 1 point in these two games, ending up 4th - which is not great, but it is still within my goal for that season, which was top 5.
Quite some problems arose due to multiple injuries in the midfield, with two of my top players being out for 5+ games and one of them actually catching two injuries and missing nearly half the season. This could be a possible reason for losing to some of the weaker teams in the early days - could have cost me the promotion. As for signings, I haven't signed any players, trying to stabilize the lineup, while no great opportunities showed themselves on the market.
I got quite lucky at the end of the season - many of my players got decent stat boosts, which made me hopeful looking ahead. While I do not HAVE TO promote this season, I have to admit that I am looking fondly towards the future. In the start of the 78th Season (or my personal 5th season), for the first time my team didn't completely mess up the first few fixtures, staying quite close to the top.
I am definitely going to be monitoring the market closely, as my defense formation could use some improving, with only one player above 70 OS. What is also worth noting is that many of my scouted players have their contracts expiring this season, meaning that the costs of keeping up my team might grow significantly, as some of them are asking salaries upwards of 20000RBN/game. This means that I have to find some important replacements if I want to stay competitive - regardless of the league I'll be playing in.
Closing Words
There is my weekly Rabona post! Hopefully, I will be writing the next one from League 1, but even if it is League 2 - I will definitely stay just as excited as I am. Even if it is fairly simple, Rabona is bringing me lots of fun, as I can manage my own football team.
Since it's a gaming-related post, here is a bunch of referral links of mine - if you're not playing any of the games I've written about, give them a try! I wouldn't write about bad games.. well, not without saying they're bad anyway. So, here they are:

Dear @mezume, we need your help!
The Hivebuzz proposal already got an important support from the community. However, it lost its funding few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.
May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.
