Proper winter. My Actifit Report Card: December 17 2022

Apart from the colors of our outfits, my photos today could take part in the #monochrome contest. Wonderful - and proper - winter during my mountains hike.

The weather forecast had been quite appalling- cold and snowfall. The snow had fallen during the night prior but the extreme cold had failed to arrive. We therefore enjoyed a nice hike in pleasant -4° or so. It was windless and as we descended, our bodies produced extra heat so the real feel temp was certainly higher.

We did a trail of 13km and 500m of total elevation gain. In summer that would be my definition of a stroll rather than a hike. In winter, however, when one has to plough through snow, it’s just enough to cover the short December day. We included of course a rest in a mountain hut. Hot tea on such a day is a miraculous potion.

On our return to our home city we noticed full parking lot and crowds of people at a shopping mall. I feel sorry for them , they have wasted such a beautiful day for shopping ;-)
