Travelling names. My Actifit Report Card: June 25 2022
On my hiking trail today I found a peak named Muńcuł. Southern Poland, near the border with Slovakia. The name is of Walachian (today’s Romania) origin and means simply “a hill””
Some people from Walachia came here about XVI century and named a mountain the way they saw it. Years later the anonymous settlers are long since gone, no one here speaks Walachian, but the name of the mountain remains #AliveAndThriving
