My Actifit Report Card: March 21 2024 - From Easter Cheer to Dune 2: A Day of Farewells and New Beginnings
The pre-dawn light paints the kitchen an eerie grey as I stand there, bleary-eyed.
It's 5:10 am, and in ten minutes, my eldest son embarks on his London adventure.
A kind fellow dad is taking him and his son to catch their school bus – their gateway to the ferry in Calais.
This is his first big trip abroad, without me by his side.
A pang of worry hits me, but I quickly push it down.
I want him to explore the world, to experience new cultures.
His bags are packed – clothes and toiletries in one, and travel essentials in the other: lunch, drinks, and most importantly, his passport.
At 5:30 am, defeated by exhaustion, I crawl back into my cold bed.
The alarm clock pierces the silence at 7:00 am, but before sleep can fully reclaim me, it feels like half an hour has already vanished.
Easter Cheer
With a car full of Easter branches (a tradition in my classroom to mark the upcoming spring celebration), I headed to work.
The vibrant eggs and colorful branches in a vase would surely brighten the children's day.
The school day itself was a typical one, with the older students helping the younger ones create beading masterpieces.
Outside, the glorious weather brought out the creativity in the children.
Sandtarts, sandcakes, and sandpopsicles – all meticulously crafted from sand, twigs, and flowers, leaving a trail of sand-dusted pants in their wake.
No complaints here – sunshine and outdoor play are a winning combination!
Transformation in the Schoolyard
The transformation of our schoolyard continues!
A crane finished its work today, making way for the planting of the first bushes, plants, and trees.
I can't wait to see this little shrub haven burst into colorful life.
The winding paths between the plantings add a playful touch, promising endless fun when everything is lush and green.
A Bite Out of Crime
However, the day wasn't all sunshine and roses.
A rather disgruntled-looking bell pepper found itself on our fruit and vegetable platter.
Unfortunately, even the most dramatic of vegetables can't escape their culinary fate.
Sibling Movie Night
The day ended on a high note – a long-awaited brother-sister outing to the movies!
We finally managed to snag tickets for Dune 2, which has been playing for weeks.
(Thanks to my brother for finally wrangling some free time!)
After a three-hour adventure, I crawled into bed, thoroughly satisfied.
Wishing you all the best in life and much health.
