Basketball Day Out: Melton Thoroughbreds

Basketball Day Out: Melton Thoroughbreds

Strap yourself in ladies and gentlemen as tonight my family and I decided to do something a bit different and attend a Melton Thoroughbreds basketball game at Cobblebank Stadium. Basketball isn't as big in Australia as other parts of the world but it is just as exciting and the every bit thrilling to watch!

Melton Thoroughbreds was established in 1977 over the years the Thoroughbreds have helped build local talent and brought the community together through their passion for the sport. The team's home is not located at the brand new council built Cobblebank Stadium. It is a relatively new addition to the Melton area first opened in 2021 it is a modern facility and has quickly become a hub for local sports enthusiasts. It offers state of the art amenities and a vibrant atmosphere that makes attending games there awesome.

The energy was awesome as most local sporting clubs are with families, groups of friends and basketball fans filled the stands. The stadium’s seating design isn't the best as it's a local multi purpose use stadium but was still quite good. It ensured that there wasn't a bad seat in the house with great views of the court from every angle.

Our kids were teaming with excitement as this was their first live basketball game and just being there left them super excited. We got to watch the players warm up on the court and get ready to play.

The Melton Thoroughbreds did not disappoint from the opening tip off to the final sound of the buzzer the game was filled with thrilling moments. The fast paced action kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

There were plenty of thrilling moments and my kids asked me many questions about basketball, sadly I am not the biggest follower of the sport so wasn't much help to them in that regard. My kids enjoyed the round so much that they wanted to sign up to play basketball in the future. As all young kids, they get hooked on everything they see :) although basketball is quite fun. Just need a bit of hight to you.

As we left Cobblebank Stadium the kids were already asking when we could come back for another game. The combination of high energy basketball, family friendly entertainment and the welcoming community atmosphere made it a day to remember. Going along to the Melton Thoroughbreds game was more than just watching a sport it was about creating a lasting core family memory.

We look forward to coming a long to another game in the future and watching our local community sports team continue to achieve great results!
