The Most Important England's Classico In Years

This time, the stakes are higher than it has ever been. And with just 10 matches left to play after today, it will be naive of anyone to understate the importance of a win for both City and Liverpool.

Putting Arsenal aside - no disrespect, Gunners - if Liverpool wins today, Man City will need them to drop points in two of the last 10 matches to stand a chance. And if City wins and climb to the top, we all know they have more than what it takes to win all 10 remaining games on a counter.

Though both managers have claimed this is not a title decider, I sincerely think it may just be. Playing down the enormity of this match is just their way of taking the pressure off their players, which is understandable.

And as for the winner of this match and the league, I am torn between the devil and the deep blue sea. Reminding Arsenal supporters that they've not won the league in 20 years is soothing; it keeps them in check. But if they win now, we can still remind them they have no serious European triumph. That's good enough to shut them up.

If Liverpool wins, they'll tie Man United on 20 league wins. That's dreadful to even imagine, not to talk about experiencing it. I'd rather they stay at 19 for now. And as for City, well, I don't live in Manchester so I don't really know what the fans over there are experiencing. But I'd prefer not to see the noisy neighbours win a fourth consecutive league title. It's annoying.

So, in view of this, I'd gladly go for an Arsenal triumph. Yes, they will make noise, but they are free to pollute North London with noisy chatter - I do not live there either. They will even start trolling Man United. But we can remind them they have no Champions League title. For me, I think Arsenal are the lesser of these three annoying devils. So, they have my support - it's not like it means anything anyway.

Well Played, Girona
It is very funny of anyone to think Girona can win the La Liga title this season. In the last 20 years the only team that has tried to free the Spanish premier football league from the stranglehold of Real Madrid and Barcelona has been Diego Someone's very ruthless Atletico Madrid.

Asides the Rojiblanco's triumphs in 2014 and 2021, Benitez's Valencia was the other team asides the dominant duo to have won the league in two decades. That was 20 years ago. So, you can imagine my surprise when folks started piling on the possibility of a very limited Girona winning the title.

Understandably, Leicester City did it in England and Alonso's Leverkusen are about to end Bayern's decade long dominance of the Bundesliga. However, Spain is a completely different world, a world where the top two takes a lot of the money made from broadcasting rights and the remaining 18 teams feed on scraps. Without doubt, the competition is not fair.

Well, I wish to see another team not named Madrid or Barca win the league. How soon that will be is anyone's guess. As for Girona, better luck next time. Well done.
