Sports Review - Christmas Edition!
Grizzlies vs Warriors was probably the most explosive matchup of last season's Playoffs. A young Grizzlies side led by the controversial and very interesting Ja Morant succumbed to the experienced Warriors who later went on to win the NBA Finals. While the young Grizzlies have gotten stronger from that experience, Warriors old guards are struggling for form away from this season. The untimely shoulder injury that has kept superstar guard Steph Curry out has further compounded the defending champions struggling season. The history, the contrasting form, Ja Morant's recent quip that he only regarded the Celtics as the only obstacle to their championship dream coupled with Dillon Brooks continued bickering with Klay Thompson only added spice to the Christmas day matchup between Grizzlies and Warriors, the first time they are crossing swords since the very controversial end to their Western Conference semifinals battle.
Needless to say, the match lived up to the hype. Jordan Poole has done relatively well this season. He continued that form with another good performance against the Grizzlies by notching 32 points. However, Klay Thompson was the one to win the psychological battle for Warriors by flooring Brooks and celebrating over him. He got cautioned for that but that is nothing compared to the vibe the whole Warriors team got from that. It's been a rocky ride for Klay with pundits regularly reminding him he's not back to the level he used to be before those niggling injuries nearly ruined his career. Despite that, Klay is still a daunting prospect whenever he's on his game. The next matchup between these two is in a couple of weeks at San Francisco. It's going to be another explosive one.
Oh, No, Nunez!
Seriously, I've run out of superlatives for this freakish being. So, I opted for Nunez, and I'm in regret right now. Mitrovic scored, assisted two goals and walked away with three bonus points. I overlooked him because he was an injury doubt. Ivan Toney had a gigantic ban hanging on his head. Overlooked him because he may not be in the right frame of mind - he scored. I guess I'm the one not in the right frame of mind for plumping for someone as unpredictable as Darwin Nunez. Was hoping he'll channel the rage of having a forgettable World Cup campaign and missing sitters against City to punish Aston Villa. In typical Nunez fashion, he ran tirelessly, caused chaos in Villa's box, was at the end of presentable chances only to waste all of them. This guy is chaos personified. I'm sure that Klopp is struggling at defining what to do with him, just as I'm struggling to decide what to do with him.
No Jesus, No Problem
Eddie Nketiah is a decent footballer, but he's not at the level of Gabriel Jesus. However, he proved himself a decent deputy to the absent Jesus by carrying a decent attacking threat against West Ham and capping his impressive performance with a goal. Now that he's calmed some nerves, can he do it on a regular basis? That's where the next focus lies. Anyways, the Gunners march on and are not backing down. Surprisingly, some people are still thinking they are not worthy of being in a title race with Manchester City. If you're one of those, you need a reality check. And, trust me, it will come.
A Very Odd Bundesliga Winter Break
Are these guys serious right now? Are they playing a different type of football? Having watched the Freiburg trash Union Berlin 4-1 to kick start the World Cup break on November 13, I fully expected the German Bundesliga to resume early due to the World Cup break. My expectations turned to agony when I realised the next match will be played on January 20. What is wrong with these ones? Premier League is back, Ligue 1 resumes tomorrow, La Liga is back on 29th, Serie A plays on the 4th of January. Why are these Germans resuming on the 20th? Even the French league whose national team played the World Cup final resumes tomorrow. Why are these ones who couldn't even make it out of the group stage resting till 20th? What are they celebrating?

Arsenal playing their best this season. They can do anything. They have this ability. They have young players with top tallent. So lets see how far they can go!
They've been very reliable this season. I hope they win the league to at least halt City's ridiculous dominance of EPL.
I was very surprised to realize the German league starts January 20th. What’s the possible reason for that? Maybe they want the players to rest very well.
They are just being unserious. Well, Bundesliga has 18 teams. So, they have four less games to play than the other top European leagues.
But the break they’re on seems too long. They’ll end up contesting their calendar since they still have the DFB pokal.
