Looking at 2 weeks old maize plants at my farm, how do you feel?

I appreciate your coming to my blog page; thanks as you read from my day experience at my farm.

This is June, it's known as rainy month alongside July; maize does well in rainy season especially at the peak of the season which occurs June and July. Today again, I woke up with so many things in mind concerning many things to do at the farm. One thing that I can assure you is that it'll almost impossible to finish every deliverables in the farm before the sun sets. Anyway, we did our best today.

Some of maize plants got missing! What happened?

One thing that is hard to control is the flow of nature. What do I mean? I've be observing this constant visiting of turtle doves 🕊️ around and inside my farm, at first instance, I didn't take their visitation somewhat until I noticed that good number of maize plants aren't sprouting. It happens that these friends of mine comes visiting just because they assumed I've opened a vegan eatery where they can come for lunch at will. What they do is that they excavate the the soil in search of buried corn; both sprouting and non sprouted one. For the non sprouted corns they eat the moisturized seeds that are about to sprout and for the sprouted ones, they become double diet in that they enjoy both the seeds and their tender leaves.

I don't want to interrupt them because they're also making me feel good with their presence, each time they arrive, I feel accompanied, I like seeing them happy with such food security in place for them. They're not causing serious harm, therefore I can ignore them.

The above is the type of lovely birds that comes visiting. I decided to replace those ones eaten by the birds so that I don't loose desired output during harvest.

Glad that my phone helped in counting my steps as I move around through Actifit Tracker as I attached my phone to myself while working.

I plant hybrid corn in the farm; these are improved specie for optimum yielding capacity, disease and resistance etc.

I do not plant all sections at same time because having all harvest at same time could be tedious, and because of market dynamics, it's always best to have sustainable planting plan. Good planting plan include planting in batches or in phases. In this section of my farm, I have 2 weeks corn and 5 day old one; each are cultivated at a particular portion and at same period.

Looking at the picture above, you may observe the demarcation between the 2 weeks maize plants and that of 5 days section; all at the same farm. With this arrangement, we can do the associating jobs like weeding with much stress. It means that all unique works should be due in different times; giving room for gradual engagement of each sections at a different times.
