Nice pictures and impressive 60k step count, good job! Whoever was competing with you in #POLIAC today had absolutely no chance.
30 degrees at higher altitude, how hot does it get when you get lower?

I should correct myself - 30 degrees were measured at 1000m, but w/o wind, the realfeel was certainly higher. At our peak of 1700m, I guess the absolute temp was lower and light wind made it quite pleasant
around noon, when I was approaching the summit for the second time, I was above treeline, the trail relatively easy (already almost flat, hiking along the main ridge), but the heat was sucking my energy. That part was for me the most difficult
But I am glad and thankful for the weather and views. Babia Góra is very prominent (more than 1000m) and it usually attracts clouds and rains. Been there twice when at the bottom was 25 and sunny, but on the peak it rained and temp dropped sharply
60k comes from making small steps; when I do my morning walk - on flat - I typically do 7km in one hour and it makes some 8500 steps. In mountains I need more steps per meter of distance (35km vs 60k steps)
Hey, thanks for the response. I agree, the views usually make it all worth it, the effort, the heat, everything! I'm hoping I'm able to visit my home country this Summer and do some alpine hiking as well.
7 km/h is a pretty fast pace when walking, I can see why it's not the same going uphill
in mountains I calculate 3,5km/h as rule of thumb, including short breaks for refreshments / rest
this last trip, 35km, 12:20hrs, out of which 30+25+15 minutes were longer stops that I cared to measure. So it makes 11:10hrs and we come close to my 3,5km/h average
