Lucas Vazquez - The Type Of Players That Are Never Talked About
Usually we talk about the legends of the game. The iconic people who are evergreen in the pages of history. The exceptional ones, the generational ones. But it in this hassle we forget about the small things in life. The small yet impactful things for a football club. And the dedicated players who make that happen. Today I will discuss about Lucas Vazquez Iglesias. The spaniard of the royal whites, Real Madrid. Lucas Vazquez is one of those guys who silently serve their clubs. They always stay available for the team and always lay down their lives on the pitch for their club. But deprived of the spotlight just because they score and assist less often.
This 30 year old guy has always been a soldier for Real Madrid. He is a midfielder of course. But when all the wingers of team were injured, Vazquez stepped up and played in those positions. Also when Carvajal was injured, this guy played right back. And he did not let the team feel that they're lacking a world class right back. He fulfilled his duty on both ends of the pitch. When he was asked to play in a defensive position, he was solid. Good tackles and interceptions. When he was asked to play in an advanced position, he was creative. Giving line breaking passes and dribbling through players and creating chances for the team to score. Whenever the coach has asked anything of him, he delivered. Lucas Vazquez has been the perfect squad player for Real Madrid. Many of the fans have always trolled him. Many coaches have not trusted him with anything. But Zidane did. He trusted this guy. And keeping that trust, Lucas Vazquez played an immense season. Holding up this team full of injuries over the course of the 2020/2021 season, he has proved his doubters wrong and people today praise him evermore. The perfect turnaround. The comeback of Lucas is immense. Because proving your worth in the most demanding club in the world is just not easy. He triumphed, but not many got to know.
Real Madrid was given the perfect squad player they needed, a player full of dedication who always put the club in front of him. Players with such pedigree is rare in today's world. Vazquez has always played for the badge on that white shirt. And he fought every minute on the pitch he got, fought for his club. And yes he was a very crucial part in the historic three peat of Real Madrid where they won 3 champions leagues in a row. Lucas is a man of elite mentality. He's the kind of guy who would go on a penalty shootout of the champions league final while spinning the ball on his finger like it was all child's play. Then converting it, is a very solid statement. Lucas Vazquez Iglesias has played about 240 games for the club of Spain's capital. While scoring 26 goals and 54 assists. In the meantime he has won 3 champions leagues, 2 La Liga titles, 2 Spanish super cups. And also 2 UEFA super cups along with 3 FIFA club world cup titles. A benchwarmer's achievement in 6 years. Yes, jaw dropping. Calling him a benchwarmer would be a injustice to him. He's the perfect utility player of the team. Last season's El Classico was the last game he played before getting injured. He suffered a Posterior cruciate ligament injury. A long one to heal. Vazquez also provided an assist to Benzema in that game.
There are a lot of players who have never hunted glory. They have simply served their club to their utmost capacity. And these warriors of the pitch go unnoticed. Credit where credit is due. Players like Lucas Vazquez should be appreciated more. They should be recognized as an important part of the club. These are the elite personnels who keep the wheel moving.
Unfortunately, players like this don’t get the recognition they deserve because they’re not the ones scoring the goals.
By the way, I would love to know what football club you support.
Yes. You are absolutely right.
Basically, I'm Bayern Munich Fan. But I regularly follow English Premier League as it's my first priority. In EPL, I always enjoy Man United, Liverpool & Chelsea's game. What about you btw?
I’m more of a Ronaldo fan😅
Though I fell in love with Man United when he first played there and now that he’s back, I couldn’t be more happier.
