Finally, @nomaddreamer and I had a chance to escape to the woods! Life has been extra busy since I’ve started going back to school & @nomaddreamer has decided to sell his gemstones & jewelry at shows this fall & winter. Go figure!
Yesterday was one of those #ozarklife days where the temp seems quite nice and ideal for a hike. Sure fooled us. It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity. Cliché, but sooooo true. We were drenched in sweat and roasting by the time we finished!
I didn’t get much in the way of pics on our hike, but I did manage to take some pics of the muscadine grapevine we found as I was double-checking that’s what they indeed were with my plant ID app. It’s pretty rare to find them so close within reach, as they climb super high on the trees. Definitely marked this spot on the trail for next time— we’ll take some buckets.
In lieu of more Ozark nature, here’s Hephie the kittenboy in one of his many favorite sleeping spots: the clean laundry. 🤦♀️

Sure did get sweaty fast but it was worth it. Those muscadine should be ripe next week, maybe we can find that Mexican plum again as well.

Humidity makes hiking so much more difficult😅
We are in a pacific northwest which is technically a rainforest and also very humid.....
I will take low humidity any day Lol!😇

Yep, I'm familiar with the Pacific NW humidity, we lived in WA state before our move down here. I thought I knew what to expect, but this humidity leaves you swimming through air and covered in a layer of sweat just to check the mailbox. It's normally around 98% when I wake up at 5AM, and might get down to 80% through the day if we're lucky!

How do you deal with this?
Lol, with air conditioning and patience! Fall and spring here are amazing, and last longer than in the NW. It's normal here to have 70 degree days in December, then about 2.5 mos. of winter, followed by a gorgeous and early warm spring. And the colors in the trees in the fall are amazing!

I totally understand! I've been moving away from it bit by bit as other needs have arisen-- I'm back to college in my middle age and working on finally fulfilling my teenage career goal of becoming an ASL interpreter, so my thoughts are elsewhere at the moment!
