Ready or not, here I come..

-> from a mad dash to stay in front!

There's a whole lot of strategy which goes into these walks to clean the planet.. mission, route, time allocation, safety concerns/preparation and the window of opportunity. With the weather forecast indicating a major cold front hurtling towards us, I had to make haste (far earlier than usual). The wind chill factor was.. whatever you're probably thinking, much colder than that! I wouldn't have minded being a mole and tunneling my way there haha!

With laser precision, I scanned the route to the local wetlands.. spotting some plastic on the opposite sidewalk. With the wind howling, I dashed toward it with lightning speed.

Success! That's one down. I don't have much taste for plastic (neither does the wildlife), so I'm always stoked to safely dispose of discarded waste. Hmm.. someone ate apples it seems.

Repeatedly moving my head back and forth, I located something hiding by some awesome looking plants. I think it was like one of those pie packets. You know, the type that comes with one of those pre baked puff pastry goodies.

This large newspaper flyer spoilt this beautiful scene. Like a superhero, I flew towards it (well in my mind anyway haha).

I wonder what this is?! If anyone knows, please do tell. It was rock hard plastic, with very little flexibility to it. If I were to guess, I would say a swizzle stick maybe? Unless it's some sort of a drain cleaner.. in which case you wouldn't want it anywhere near your cocktail. I'm clueless!

Someone in the area likes these snacks. It could be more than one offender, but I'm growing suspicious now. I've made a mental note for the future.

Ah.. I know this view very well. As always, I feel peace in my soul when I see it. Just a reminder, that today I was racing to stay in front of the approaching cold front - hurtling towards me! Onwards, then.

My geese friends were trying to keep warm. I hope they'll be able to weather the storm later.. I feel for them.

A potentially lavish treat, leading to environmental harm. At least, I was able to get to it in time. The more I do this work, the more I'm convinced that this whole area is inundated with litter.

I didn't want to take my usual path, as the geese have enough to worry bout today. I reckoned I'd give them their space.

A zebra print shard of thick plastic. I'm guessing from a bowl or mug perhaps? It was definitely hard plastic, though.

I thought I'd share something interesting today. In many of my previous photos, you may have noticed all those sandy mounds. They're actually older mole hills. This particular one is still fresh, though. It's quite a sight, to see it happening in real time (which I didn't this time time.. but I can still tell that it's a fresh scene).

I don't think this is meant to be here. It's like a cement/stone block of sorts. It is however, clean.. so I left it (for now at least).

This broken shard of glass (from a wine bottle it seems), had to go.

I really wouldn't mind doing that long hike up to Peers cave sometime. It's kinda grueling though (and not a great idea to go alone due to the criminal danger). There was a moment when I was much younger, with there being no such worry. How time's have changed.

The snails were carefully dusted from this brown paper, before it was bagged.

I made my way back to where I stay. I passed a cigarette butt on the road. It didn't feel right to sinply ignore it due to the distance, so I made an 'on foot' u-turn. Good decision.

The trash was discarded in the municipal wheelie bin where I stay. I first photographed it in the blue carrier, then emptied it into another bag (so that I could once again re-use that same carrier). The environment is happier, and I feel stoked to have met my steps.
