Cubans to debut in Canada in Volleyball Nations League🏐
The men's Team of Cuba will open the Volleyball Nations League 2023 in Ottawa, Canada, venue during the first week (June 6 to 11) of one of the keys in which the 16 competing casts will be grouped.
The West Indians will face the runner-up of the previous edition, the United States, as well as Italy (4th.), Brazil (6th.), The Netherlands (8vo.), Argentina (9no.), Germany (12mo.) and Canada (15th.), according to the FIVB website.
In the other initial group of the lid, based in Nagoya, Japan, they will compete together with the hosts (5th.) the squads of France (champion), Poland (3rd.), Iran (7mo.), Slovenia (10mo.), Serbia (11no.), China (13th.) and Bulgaria (14th.).
The second week will be from June 20 to 25 in France and the Netherlands. Cuba will have as adversaries in the city of Orleans Brazilians, Slovenians, Argentines, Japanese, Bulgarians, Canadians and French locals.
The last week of the preliminary phase will be played to travel to Anaheim, in the United States, to fight from July 4 to 9 against the French monarchs and the American runners-up, in addition to Argentina, Germany, Bulgaria, Iran (7mo.) and Serbia (11na.).
The competition formula is the same as the previous one, with 16 teams per gender. There will be 104 matches in each gender between the preliminary and final stages. The casts will play a minimum of 12 challenges.
The eight best teams of each sex will advance to the final rounds. The teams of the host countries will have their places for the closing of the tournaments, scheduled in the United States from July 12 to 16 (f) and in Poland from 19 to 23 (m).
The final phase will be played by direct elimination. The first classified will face in the quarterfinals to the eighth place, the second to the seventh; the third to the sixth and the fourth to the fifth.
The teams that lose will be placed from the fifth to the eighth places in the event. The winners will advance to the semifinals to define the candidates for the title and the candidates for the bronze medal.
