Cleaning week: Obsessed with cleaning silver
Cleaning has been this week's highlight ever since my dad is home and we know about his UTI (urinary tract infection), where whatever we can provide assistance to keep the space as low infection possibilities as possible.
But today is slightly different. I have been obsessed cleaning up something different: silverware jewellery
A lot of what I wear often times have something associated with silver because most of them are gifts from my friends who cherish Sterling Silver more than anything (hence their gifts are related to it)
unfortunately many of my favourites never passed the 🧲 magnet test
Of course, there are a lot of other metal decorations, but I felt that it is better to start checking on my "inventory" that I hardly use, see if there are any rusted ornaments although I loved them a lot, and discards whatever that is no longer useful.
It is also a season of de-cluttering and re-organising for me. There has been so much things around happening that I hardly have any time clearning up and it is starting to feel and smell like a depressed environment, which is not good for me and my elderly parents as well.
So let's with something cheerful and sparkly!
this thing is potent!
Recently I finally acquired Silver Cleaning Solutions from online sales (Shopee) and I have been meaning to clean whatever silver jewellery I have.
do you think they will look better as pendants or charms?
I also might think of selling off based on the quality of the jewelry with a discounted price, because a lot of them I didn't wear and perhaps someone else will benefit better. But that will be a good way to revive my first lost-and-found account @craftsofluv
That is, once I got my "diamond tester" in
Thanks to Online Sales haha; that being said I also want to make sure I discard the fake ones and retain the important ones.
I also found out (with horror), some that was mentioned "silver" wasn't really silver, or it was from a really thin plated surface.
And this is true for my favourite "tear drop" earrings that I usually wear. Recently I have been feeling "some reaction" to this pair of earrings where my earloop hole can easily feel "inflammed" compared to before, and to my horror, when I dipped it into the silver cleaning solution, this "pink" surfaced out especially at the hook area, which I think it could be copper according to Internet search results.
This also means that I am beginning to be more sensitive to copper accessories compared to last time when these barely have any problem for me.
Thinking of using this kind of clasping to mend the super thin necklace
I did have a really good time seeing how shiny my blacken items are, but there are also some of the items like my 925 silver necklace was broken, so I got to find a way to mend it in order for not wasting it.
look at those dirt after washing!
Once cleaned, I will place in these really neat tiny boxes that I have acquired in order to slow down oxidation if it is not being used. I do have an accessory hanger gifted from my friend, but because the air pollution has caused so much dust I'd prefer to keep any oxidation easy ones nicely tucked in.
Especially recently a sister who I very much cherished and have not seen for 10 years gifted me this one precious pendant that I have been trying to find for my mom, and it is in a perfect size for her!
(That deserves another testimony for another post in the future wheni got it ready for mom)
After all the cleaning, now I can happily wear my silver during special occasion, keep them nicely aside when unused, especially during house chores!
Until Then

Um... That pair of "tear drop" earrings better don't wear it, since you already mentioned your ear has some reactions. 🤔
