Tackling the water pollution for the house continues
The battle of better water quality continues...
Almost 1 month old filter, from a low volume usage: 10L of water a day
Each time when there is a pipe burst somewhere close by, there's horrible mud residue that will flow through the piping even though where I stay supposedly have a huge water tank system; but I think because of the volume of usage of water, before the mud can settle at the bottom of the tank, it is being used off; and because of the constant flow of water, the murkiness continues as long as there are new mud entering into the water tank.
This is a clear example when there are ongoing water treatment events, but the general public wasn't informed. This is the price to pay in developing areas, and each month I have to change several filters of this type just to make sure whatever that goes to our skin while cleaning up, there are no other toxins like chlorine and mud, because our skin is the largest organ of our body.
costing around $1.20 USD a piece which could last about 3 months hopefully... 🤞🏼
I tried many other more expensive products, and though they are effective, with this kind of pollution it isn't very economical, and so I recently found a ceramic filter where I can wash it off several times before I changed to a new one, which reduces the waste at the same time.
For the shower I actually did double filtering, especially when the elderly's skin aren't the strongest; I am hoping to reduce as much skin irritation / infection possible for the sake of long term prevention, and this is the cost to pay.
By the way, this also includes reducing hair loss because of bad quality water
Many would have asked, "why not just get a monthly subscription large filtration system for the apartment?", it is no doubt a nice idea, but the overall monthly expenses is still 3x more expensive than what I am installing.
2 week old filter with higher volume used pipe from brushing teeth to hand washing clothes
Thanks to China competitive products, I can cut another 20% expenses with cheaper but less quality material for some areas while using re-washable filters because of double filtering, I am targeting further cost cutting the following months; but of course, I need to track it and see the overall cost for another quarter of the year.
How about you?
Have you ever thought of better quality the water you are using for shower, besides drinking water?
If yes, how much do you usually spend for ensuring better quality water is consumed?
I have noticed unfiltered water will create a rusty bottom on kettles and pots while used for water boiling, not to mention the taste of the food is affected too.

Ive played this game. Paper filters, then washable filters to create less waste.
In the end we invested in a large sand filter.
Haha. I feel I might go to that but space is not helping, not to mentioned I have to pay $250 USD up front to the management I stayed just in case any public properties damaged (it is refundable but it can take up to half a year 😢) which I don't have yet until I settle all my critical debts
Yes, step by step you will arrive.
We also had to wait several years to save for the sand filter system
Yeah. Just hope the inflation doesn't get worse.

Unfortunately we have the same issue here ... we put filters and after one or two days they are so dark from mud :(
Water is so precious, I hope we will all learn to respect it
Yes. I think everywhere is similar.
Respect the beautiful environment we have while it is still around.
