The wisdom I learned from those who have gone home ✝️ 🪦 ❤️ 🕊
Just this month itself I have the privilege to witness those who are in their 80s to 90s return to the LORD and the legacy they left behind, and 2 out of 3 came from the @evergreen.min members, a special ministry service caters for the senior citizens.
From their lives, though not all bed of roses, especially those who went through the World War 2, they have taught me something profound that I believe we as the “young’ns” could learn from them.
A Wayward Life, but Redeemed in the end
Uncle though was street smart, but he never truly cherished his life until the very end. Severing many family ties when he was younger and lost, he spent his last days in a nursing home barely anyone visited him. But through @matthew.lily ’s kind approach to him no matter how his life was before, God soften his heart last year and he finally received Jesus. Since then, though his health was deteriorating, he had managed to spend quality time with his sister and his nephew, and best of all right before his passing, his long disconnected daughter across the seas came back to see him one last time, prayed with him before he return Home.
I had the honour to pray for his daughter during the wake before rushing off to attend to important issues and was so glad to witness the healed countenance and joy of relief from her face that her father is safe and in eternal home.
Strong Father
Uncle though wasn’t a believer earlier, he always uphold a good model character as the firm head of the household character. Though a man of a few words, every sentence that came out from his mouth to his children were full of wisdom. Later when he found Jesus, his most frequent response to his children though weak with a few words were - 2 thumbs up!
Even the very end, after he had his dinner and gave his wife 2 thumbs up, he went home peacefully in the sense that no one noticed and there were commotion.
Joyful Mother
Aunty painted an impactful life just by looking at all the photos her children took for her. Even though she was wheelchair bound and frequently visited the hospital, her smile never diminished. Even at the age of 97 this year, Bengal Fire Sparkles always brought her joy during Chinese New Year. No one could run away from her frequent friendly question, “have you eaten?” if they visited her, and will always insisting in sharing a snack with her.
All these individuals have 3 very distinct lives; but I get to see what the vital lessons the world sorely missing these days. The consequences of a wayward life, the healing that brings in family reconciliation, the importance of fatherly wisdom impart to the young people who truly need it, and the impact generosity and joy brings to others like a beacon in this darkening world.
These individuals indeed have given me an insight what is meant to live, more so, how crucial it is to live right. The tears that stream down the descendants, relatives and friends truly have shown me that whatever we do, like it or not, good or bad, there’s an impact to the people around us, and we should be mindful in how we live out our lives, especially those of us who received the Light of the World.
This profound witness truly given me some deep thoughts to ponder, especially from what I have been going through of late.
How about you?
Would you live a life that would leave a priceless legacy to those around you as these 3 seniors?
