Post Event: Appreciation Meal (Soloists Edition)

(Edited)

The hype has ended, and the choir team is starting to disperse and getting on with their lives, but there’s this group of worship leaders and segment leads who worked extra hard for the event, humbled themselves to be coached for voice balance, harmonies, different languages and also learning to work together.

Soloists from East and West Malaysia

Yes, these are actually worship leaders of the next generation, moreover, each of them are of either different states or different race, representing the entire harmonious mix of Malaysia, comprising both East Malaysia (Borneo) and West Malaysia (Peninsular)

To have an unwind get together after the chaos was a good thing, because throughout the 2 months we only came together to work, work and work on the songs. We were a “team” with our mission focused at hand, but today we come together to form a bond of friendship.

It is always interesting to hear each and every one of the story of their journey in Christ, and I must say some of them are quite remarkable! From standing firm of their faith, almost losing the first child, jinxed without realizing (out of good intention).

But where did we spent our almost 5 hours fellowship together??

Outside of Petit Mansion

None other than a new place my Segment lead found: Petite Mansion

Beer fest going on

Located in an up-scaled “food court” called Jiospace, where millennials and Gen-Z these days love to hang out and have their meal with quality time. All these restaurants aren’t huge, and I believe this place was formally a factory turned hyped area. I also heard that it also hosts concerts and joints there, but I am not certain where it is located as we didn’t venture out to walk around the premise but stayed in this cheek Frenched inspired café.

Keeping interior simple

The whole design was bare minimum, were only black and white sketches of pictures (where I unknowingly lost the photo) of the famous places in Paris itself, and I am happy that I still remembered all these places.

Easily can call the waiter for help

There’s actually wall divided between the front counter where all the pastries are and the dining area, but they have an open window where we can just call out the waiter if needed. Because it is such a cozy tiny place, we didn’t need any “special buttons” to call when we needed assistance.

My 1 shot espresso

I had my first shot of espresso of the day, and boy, I have forgotten how little it was, yet packed with a punch! I was literally sipping through tiny bit while enjoying the pastries

What are the pastries available?

Red Velvet Croissant
Red Velvet Croissant

The first that caught my eye was this dark red croissant. Intrigued by its look I ordered for everyone to share. It is stuffed with light cream cheese but I think for those who are more Asian finds it harder get used to pastry and cheese. Nevertheless, the croissant is crispy with a glazed caramel top and everyone enjoyed it.

Chicken Cream Sandwich
Chicken Cream Sandwich

I think this was everyone’s favourite because it was savory! But without a proper knife to cut into evenly distributed squares, we butchered the sandwich with no mercy haha. Creamy and not too salty, the taste was just nice and light.

Of course, being the oldest in the pack, I had to “settle” the least favourite condiment, the salad, which is actually not too bad with the sesame dressing, but a tad dry.

Sweet Potato Fries
Sweet Potato Fries with Cheese

Now this caught everyone’s curiosity, not because of the fries with Himalayan salt and parsley, but more on the dip. We were all guessing how it tasted because it feels like a cheese dip with garlic but it was really light and addictive. Some concluded it is a parmesan dip, but it could be from a real _ Parmigiano Reggiano_ because it didn’t have the weird pungent smell from the instant ones which tasted weird some times.

The Non-spicy (?) “Curry” Chicken Sandwich

Non spicy "curry" chicken sandwich

Actually in the menu it wrote “curry” but we didn’t taste any curry flavor at all. Haha. A little dry but it was definitely tidier when cut into little pieces even with a butter knife.

Almond Croissant

Almond Croissant

I think this ended up everyone’s favourite. Fragrant roasted almond chips in a light whipped cream filling, instead of going for the savory dishes first, these kids dived straight into this one first, without feeling regretful that they could have left the best for last.

Chocolate Croissant

Chocolate Croissant

Last but not least, the driest chocolate croissant I ever had haha. Thinking that there could be some good amount of chocolate filling inside, it was actually coated around the croissant. Though dry it was really crunchy, so with a good amount of coffee / latte one can enjoy this very much.

I however have missed out the classic because it was way the other side, but I am pretty sure they tasted divine because the kid loved it

Camera Eat First

Of course, before we chow down these yummy food, the camera ate it all first and I was fortunate to catch some of them busy snapping all the way before thanking the food and dug

Overall it was a pretty good meetup; our youngest in the joint (12 years old) was packed with so many questions for each and every one of us that we ended up laughing for a whole hour.

The most important is that friendship has been formed and we hope we will have future collaboration, but first, I need a “vacation” before the next choir roundup and perhaps we should open to ensembles instead another flock of 50-strong with 4 different languages to tackle haha
(Not complaining, but we definitely needed longer time to get them ready)

Until then

It's quite nice but I'd personally preferred if consumed when it is warm
