So far it's been a pretty great season for baseball. That's in part simply since the owner-player negotiations didn't derail the season or cancel any of the 162 games.

With teams around 35 games played, how is it going?

Well, it isn't a surprise that the Dodgers are looking solid this season, even after going 5 for 5 in their last 10 games, as long as their pitching health holds up. Freddie Freeman is playing well. Kershaw has been great.

The Yankees also look great, over performing expectations to a degree even, you could say. Judge, Stanton, Rizzo batting? Goodness. And pitchers Cortes, King, Chapman, and Cole are a blast.

And both the Dodgers and Yankees haven't really been giving up runs. The Dodgers did just place two starting pitchers on the IL though, so we will see how that plays out.

The Angles are good. 3rd best record in the AL (behind New York and Houston). I would think most baseball fans would be happy to see Trout, MLB's OPS leader, in the playoffs. Same goes for Ohtani.

The Astros are cruising again with the 2nd best AL record, winning 9 of their last 10.

The Mets are good. Scherzer anywhere but Washington stills feels weird, but so it goes. Mets have the best record in the NL, though the Dodgers, Brewers, and Padres are right behind them. Gotta love Yelich, and Machado is MLB's #2 OPS slugger.

The Twins, Rays, and Cardinals also look solid. Arenado is crushing as a Cardinal this year. The Braves started out a little slow but are still scary.

And don't sleep on the Marlins with their crusher of a young starting rotation and considering sluggers Garcia, Soler, and Aguilar (to some degree) still haven't even started hitting yet, and their closer Floro is only now arriving for the season after an injury. They followed a 7-game win streak with a 6-game slide, so time will tell if this fun young group gets it clicking fully. Berti, Jazz, Sanchez, Alcantara, MLB ERA leader Lopez--fun to watch.

I'm a Marlins, Dodgers, and Yankees fan and probably give away that much to some degree when I type these up. So it goes. Cheers to the season and the game all around.

Go Mattingly.

Be well.
