El equipo cubano femenino de tenis de mesa ha ganado el torneo colectivo de los Juegos Centroamericanos de San Salvador. Las chicas han logrado la primera medalla de oro de la delegación cubana en esta cita. Destilan emociones; quien escribe también.

Desde Maracaibo 1998, las mujeres cubanas no se subían a la cima del podio centroamericano en este deporte. De las campeonas de hoy, Idalys Lovet era la única que había nacido y tenía apenas 1 año. Durante esos 25 años Venezuela, Dominicana, Colombia, y Puerto Rico, por partida doble, disfrutaron las victorias.

A Puerto Rico, precisamente, destronaron hoy las muchachas. Y tras el último punto Daniela lanzó la raqueta. Un gesto hermoso, para sacarse a bronca, y liberar la presión contenida. Venía de ganar -casi todos- los partidos decisivos de los match que las pusieron en la final pero había perdido en el segundo juego de la final en parciales corridos a ante Adriana Díaz.

Todavía la recuerdo, a Daniela, cuando se clasificó a los Juegos Olímpicos, raqueta al aire, un grito y la emoción de hacer historia. Hoy todo ha sido más grande, ha dicho ella mism.

"Esto ha sido más importante que cuando me clasifiqué para los Juegos Olímpicos, porque estamos todas, porque lo hemos hecho todas" - dijo a la prensa acreditada momás terminar el choque.

Y así fue justamente, incluyendo a Estela Crespo que ha jugado todo el torneo con una molestia y que a con sus 18 años le tocó jugar por el pase a la final ante la experimentadísima Yadira García, una cubana nacionalizada méxicana.

El tenis de Mesa por equipos para damas se empezó a competir en 1982 y Cuba ganó y ganó hasta el 1998. Desde entonces, hasta hoy, no había bañado sus raquetas con oro.

Palmas y respeto para ellas. Estela Crespo, Idalys Lovet, Lizdainet Rodríguez y Daniela Fonseca son las protagonistas.

¡Qué bueno Volver!... volver a la cima, volver a la cúspide, volver, veinticinco años después. Veinte años solo para Gardel no son nada. ¡Imagínese 25!

"Savior" stories: Them, the title and the will

The Cuban women's table tennis team has won the collective tournament of the Central American Games in San Salvador. The girls have achieved the first gold medal of the Cuban delegation in this event. They exude emotions; who writes too

Since Maracaibo 1998, Cuban women have not climbed to the top of the Central American podium in this sport. Of today's champions, Idalys Lovet was the only one who was born and was barely 1 year old. During those 25 years, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Puerto Rico, twice, enjoyed victories.

Puerto Rico, precisely, was dethroned today by the girls. And after the last point Daniela threw the racket. A beautiful gesture, to get out of trouble, and release the contained pressure. She had just won -almost all- the decisive matches of the matches that put them in the final but she had lost in the second game of the final in straight sets against Adriana Díaz.

I still remember her, Daniela, when she qualified for the Olympic Games, racket in the air, a scream and the emotion of making history. Today everything has been bigger, she told JIT herself.

"This has been more important than when I qualified for the Olympic Games, because we are all here, because we have all done it," she told the accredited press just after the match.

And that's exactly how it was, including Estela Crespo, who at the age of 18 had to play for the pass to the final against the highly experienced Yadira García, a Cuban nationalized with Mexican nationality.

Table tennis by teams for ladies began to compete in 1982 and Cuba won and won until 1998. Since then, until today, they had not bathed their souls in gold.
