My Actifit Report Card: September 23 2024
I headed out to the easy eighteen-hole disc golf course by the river to play a practice round. Just after I started playing, a friend of mine showed up, and we played a round together. We weren't seriously scoring and had a lot of fun just playing through and talking about discs.
Unfortunately, my friend lost a disc in the river. He had just shown it off to me after just getting it back after losing it before. He really didn't need to throw it since his first throw landed in bounds, although it was not in the best of spots. He walked up to the tee, saying, "That was my practice throw. Here goes my main throw."
He put his "main throw" out with a lot of anhyzer on a forehand line, and the right to left wind blew it out towards the river. The disc was stable enough, but with the wind and that much anhyzer, it didn't have enough stability to fight back, and it drifted way out towards the river.
We both ran down right away to look for it, but it was not to be found on the river bank. The water gets deep right away there, and it was so murky that we could not see it.
Hopefully, he will get it back. Sometimes, the river floods and washes all the disc down towards a sandbar. I've had discs show up months later. It's nice to get them back. They fly about the same, although they are kind of washed out looking.
After the round, I went down to the sandbar to look for some wood to carve at my friends suggestion. There were some interesting characters hanging out there, and one woman had a loose dog. It was a rather large dog and ran over aggressively at me, barking, growling, and baring its teeth. I told it "NO" and stuck my foot right on its nose. Luckily, the dog backed off after a few more lunges and snaps. Niether man or dog was injured in the encounter. I like dogs, but I was about ready to show him who was boss in a not so kindly way. I think that people who have dogs that are that aggressive should really keep them on leash if they don't have voice control over them.
Another recent picture from the garden at the old house in Longmont, Colorado:
This house was donated to the city, and it is fun to look through the garden.

Good morning my brother ♥️♥️
you are playing disc golf with your friend and it sounds like a lot of fun, and your friend lost his disc and hopefully he finds it again.
And luckily you were not hurt by the stray dog, and what you said is very true, the owner should tie up an aggressive dog so that it does not hurt people.
That's too bad that your friend lost his disc...🙄
Maybe if you come back it might be found by that sandbar you're talking about.... hopefully!😄
Other than that sounds like a great time with your friend playing the course!!

Quite a pity that your friend lost his disc in the river. Hoping he will find it back actually
How cool it is to play with a friend for fun and getting better every day 😄
The statue, the tree behind it and the garden looks so adorable in this picture 😄
I am sad to hear about your friend having to lose his disc again, hopefully he can find it again in the next few days.
Wow such a wonderful statue, hope you enjoy today game.
Wow, what an eventful day! From a casual disc golf round with a friend to the nerve-wracking moment when the disc drifted into the river, but it all still sounds like fun. There’s always something to laugh about, especially when your friend said, "That was my practice throw," and then the disc decided to go for a swim instead. Who knows, maybe the river will be kind enough to return it this time.
And about the dog, that must’ve been quite a shock! Good thing you stayed calm and didn’t get hurt. I agree, if a dog is that aggressive, it’s definitely better to keep it under control to avoid scaring anyone. Despite the tense moments, it sounds like a colorful day by the river and the old garden in Longmont!
Have a nice day always!
I love the treatment you gave to the dog, it was really aggressive.
The golf course is too close to that Lake, is it possible to move it away from there because of the many discs that gets thrown in there.
The statute is very stately, beautiful.
Great
I love dogs, but was bit by a loose one when a child. Some people are so inconsiderate.
I've only been bitten by a dog one time. It was on the way to class and I was running late and walking very fast. The German shepherd snuck up behind me and bit me on the back of the leg. Luckily he had his rabbis shot so no harm I suppose. He had escaped his backyard enclosure. At least the owners were trying to keep him enclosed.
Mine was a Chihuahua. The people were on the porch and the dog came to the sidewalk and got my leg. Thankfully I didnt need rabies. Nowadays there would have been a lawsuit, but back then seems nothing much was done.
