My Actifit Report Card: July 29 2022
We played out at the Kayak Disc golf resort on our favorite difficult eighteen-hole course this morning. My friend and I like to play in the morning before it gets hot. As we were about to tee off another player we knew was about to start so we invited him to join us. The three of us had a fun round and I won with a +9, the other scores being a +13, and a +26. It is a difficult course but I think we were a bit tired from all the playing earlier in the week. I'm going to rest up for the next few days, in part because of how hot it is.
On hole one I threw the Loft Bohrium disc way down by the basket on a 421-foot downhill hole. I ran the putt for a birdie attempt but missed and missed the short come-back putt. Birdogey time, lol.
On the next hole, I'm determined to get the disc downfield for a birdie so I try the Loft Bohrium again and throw it pretty hard. This time I miss the line just a bit and end up releasing too far to the right and the disc turns right even more under power and heads for the woods.
It hit a tree pretty close to the fairway so I know it is not that deep in the woods but we looked for a bit and could not find it. There were a lot of nettles in the area and I didn't want everyone to get nettled so I called the search off. I think the disc will eventually be found and I might look for it sometime after a round.
I did end up buying another Loft Bohrium in the shop. This time I got one close to max weight at 173/174 grams. I have already thrown it a couple of times and it feels more stable than the one I lost, which was 168/169 grams. I like the disc enough to get another one but it is still not the most consistent disc for me in part because of how easy it turns under power and the different rim design that takes some getting used to. I would personally rate the one I lost at a turn -3 and fade 2. (The factory rates the disc speed 14, glide 6, turn -1, and fade 3.) The speed and glide seem accurate, this disc goes a long way if you throw it right.

Ever since following @davedickeyyall, I have always wanted to take up disc golfing. I golf but that seems like something else.
Losing golf balls must be nothing compared to losing a disc! That would be like losing a club.

Losing a disc sucks. They're about $20 each
Those Loft Bohrium discs have been setting me back $27.50. Fancy imported stuff. The shop never puts the price on the discs so I joked around with them and said, "If you have to ask for the price you can't afford it right?" 😃 Unfortunately I've run out of scrip too after renting some golf carts.
$27.50 is steep for a disc
Disc golfing is lots of fun and usually doesn't cost that much. (Unless you have a tendency to throw discs into the river water, lol.)
Just wondered if it is legal to modify a disc on your own, such as add a weight or some such? Or is it have to be used as made?

I think these might be oyster mushrooms which are good to eat. I'm not sure though, I'm not an expert in the mushrooms around here.

Oh I hate losing a disc.. and the replacement is never as good
I'm pretty sure I can find the lost disc if I have some time to look for it. People are really good about turning them in at the shop if they find them too. The new one I got as a replacement will be like going back to square one and relearning the disc as you said. I think it will be better to have a heavier weight with the way this disc flies though. It will be nice to have both of them so I have a backup or a choice of disc stability.
I hope you find it.. I hate losing a good disc

Funny how hunting discs is a frequent part of the game. 😄 Of course I know it may not be too funny when they can't be found.
That is quite the mushroom cluster going on there. The look so smooth.
Looking for discs is a big factor in the game. Usually people will spot each other's throws and help find the discs. In a tournament it is required for everyone on the card to help look for a lost disc for three minutes. If you can't find it you have to throw again from the last place you threw from unless it went out of bounds. (A penalty point is added too, so this is no fun.)

Today I threw the heavier disc a lot for practice. I think I like the lighter one better now that I have tried them both. Hopefully I can find it next time I'm back at the disc golf course where I lost it.
