My Actifit Report Card: November 19 2021
I road my e-bike down to the river to see how bad the flooding was. They still had the floodgates up near downtown but the water was low enough so I don't think they needed them up any longer.
I had to check out the homeless encampment/disc golf course to see how bad it was. The park was still closed but the course generally looked playable except for the lake by hole four.
There was a giant water hazard near hole four's basket on the disc golf course:
There is a sidewalk under the bridge here but it is covered over with water:
I saw that a lot of the homeless moved towards the downtown area. There were a couple guys still wandering around in the "closed" park though.
In general the disc golf course is still playable (when things dry out) but I don't play this course much. Some of the homeless people have a really nasty pit bull that almost bit me once. (Actually, I'm not certain they were homeless but they kind of had that feel to them.)
I really wish we could do something so that people have better ways of living besides camping out in the local parks. I'm sure it is not very fun for them and it is a bit disrupting when you are throwing discs around.
People don't often think about it or talk about it but real estate taxes have a lot to do with making housing less affordable. (There are a host of other factors, like the banking industry as well as fees, regulations, etc.) Everyone keeps voting for increasing these taxes but I think it is one of the worst ways of taxing people.
Even if you are renting you end up paying increased costs for housing because of these taxes. By the time most people end up paying for their houses the tax on them ends up being a higher payment than when they first purchased the house.
Maybe if the government actually paid you something for purchasing a house instead of the other way around, it would lower the cost and more people could afford to live in a house. I sure it is pretty complicated, perhaps I'm not seeing some aspect of the issue, what do you think?

The place looks very beautiful. Have homeless people lost their homes due to floods? Which is why they're rushing to the park and the city!
The homeless people were living in the park but that got flooded out a few days ago so they had to move.
I got 9 holes in today at a new course in Gunnison...
Nice! I love to play new courses. That looks very different than the courses around here. Hopefully things will dry up just a bit more; the local courses are wonderful when there is less water on them.
Beautiful photography by reflecting the state of the environment around the field.
Thank you. I was curious to see how high the river was today.
Yes sir! 👌
