The Red Devils finally beat the gunners for the first time since post sir Alex Ferguson's era and that must have elevated the mood of the coach, players, and fans of Manchester united. It was a tightly contested match that provided five goals and many talking points. The events of the night both on the field and off-field created a lot of buzz on social media and it is worth discussing them from the way I see it. Continue reading to see from my view the following headings.

Carrick left with his head held high

After 15 years of association, Michael Carrick left the club, and it is unclear what his next line of action would be, but we know he said that he will be taking time out to spend more time with his kids. After OLE was sacked, a lot of people criticized why ole back-room staff remained. Carrick didn’t let that distract him though as he managed to get 2 wins and a draw for the three matches he managed. He left Manchester united with his head high as he was spoken highly off by the players and those around the club. He is a proud man, and it won’t be shocking to see him take up a managerial position somewhere else in the next future.

Cristiano Ronaldo was a leader of the pack

When Michael Carrick dropped Ronaldo in his first premier league match against Chelsea, many feared that the Portuguese superstar will not be able to play the kind of football the new coach will be bringing in. But the match against Arsenal proved otherwise as the 36 years old man pressed the ball from the front line, and he was also directing the play from the pitch. His constant hand gesture directed to his team to come out and play and, sometimes instructing the defense to stay put at the back and be rigid sums up his zeal to win. He got two goals of which one was from a penalty which was normally supposed to be taken by Bruno sums up how solid the team is behind the player. The Shu celebration from almost all Manchester united players after Ronaldo scored summed up the unity in the dressing room.

Arsenal are not far off from the top with just a few changes and input

The beginning of the season was a very tough one for the gunners' coach Arteta as struggled and found themselves 20th on the league table after 6 matches has been played. They currently occupy the 5 positions now and could have moved into the fourth of the league table for the first time this season had they beaten Manchester United. Some key mistakes cost them the match but above all, they played fine, and with more consistency and focus on the team, the gunners' team will be in the top four. Captain Auba's form has been worrying as he is lost of form has seen him fail to score in five games now and Saka's performance during his short cameo on shows that he is far from fully matching fit.

As an Arsenal supporter, this game served as a great reminder, not that I needed one, that there is still a lot of work to do. Lots of people love throwing the blame on Arteta, which I am sure his lack of experience does play a part in some of the results. However, I really think the team is improving under him but still lacks more fresh blood. Arteta doesn't have many options. Like Auba and Laca both great and awful games, same with most players. So you can't really blame him for picking a name over the other. I think it would take Arsenal at least two years to get back to top 4 tbh especially with the top 4 spots being so crowded. Any time before those two years would be a miracle.

Great breakdown through and through, your second takeaway reminded me of why we need someone like CR7, a leader with a fighting spirit to push the team further even when the rest are underperforming.
