Football: Chelsea Owner has ruined the club and the beautiful game for me
Things could get frustrating at times, and with football as one of my jam, I have been experiencing it too often for some months now. Since last year when Argentina won the dubious world cup, I gave up on football authenticity, and I linked it to watching Wrestling. The competition appeared scripted to me, and the way the whole game had been playing out before the final, I knew the title would be given to the Argentines.
After that happened, I was looking to overcome what I had watched in the so-called world cup tournament, which we all knew was a script to the last minute. I decided to crawl back to the two competitions I felt could still give me joy: the English premier league and, of course, champions league football. We can all agree that the English premier league is the best in the world, and the champions league offers the toughest competition.
On returning to league football, things went from bad to worse for my team Chelsea. The ex-coach potter bought in many players, which he could not use well. Winning a match has become something anyone associated with Chelsea Football Club tends to enjoy once in a blue moon. Scoring has got to be the hardest of tasks for the Blues attackers as they appeared unable to find the net.
The last time I had joy under the ex-coach Potter was in the champions league, in the round of 16, where Chelsea played against Dortmund. The first leg ended with Chelsea getting beaten by a goal by Adeyemi. The goal was good and showed how low Chelsea had fallen. However, Chelsea roared back in the return leg to win the tie with a two-goal margin. At that moment, I was the proudest Chelsea fan out there as we did not have much success like this to celebrate.
After that night, Chelsea returned to playing without results, as they got beaten at almost every match. One thing for sure, though, is that scoring goals was one of Chelsea's biggest problems. After that match, Chelsea returned to playing rubbish, eventually leading to the new Chelsea owner wielding the Axe on Potter. The caretaker manager tried his best as he was able to keep a clean sheet in his only game as a manager before an interim manager was appointed.
The appointment of Lampard as an interim manager shocked almost everyone because he had just lost his seat as the Everton coach due to inconsistency in results. No one expected Lampard to be appointed, which made many people conclude that Bohle doesn’t have the interest of Chelsea at heart. In his defence, he wanted a familiar face who ginger the team who had lost morale and confidence in their own ability.
The appointment of Frank Lampard has even made things go out of hand. He has coached Chelsea to six games since his return, and Chelsea has lost all those matches and scored just one goal. Now we are out of the champions league as Madrid defeated us in the quarter-finals by beating us both home and away. Lampard has made Chelsea worse, and I do not see my beloved team becoming better in years to come, as we are languishing in the bottom half of the table.
So yeah, watching and writing about football isn’t something I enjoy doing for now, as I derive no joy from the situation in my dear club.
