A long time ago football award used to go to the player who played well throughout the season. It is a real achievement when you get an award at the end of the year. In those days, winning awards was considered a real achievement. Unlike today, where it has become prevalent, almost everyone gets an award no matter how bad they play throughout the season.

In those days, winning awards was considered a real achievement. They were given to only those who consistently excelled during that footballing period. It is not given based on one occasion but over several games or matches spanning many months or a year (depending on which specific award was being discussed).

But with the growth in social media and the number of popular players, the award has been affected. With social media being a big part of our daily lives and football players being trendy, their popularity on social media is an influencer on football awards. Football players witinfluencesn Twitter and Instagram have won awards they did not deserve in recent years. For example, KDB won the premier league best player award for 2021/2022 season despite better candidates like Son and Salah in the Mix. The same happened last year as KDB won the PFA player ahead of Kane, who won the highest goal and hughest assist gong in that season.

Nowadays, most of the award goes to the player with the biggest fan base on social media or their country fans. For example, Neymar is a famous player in Brazil. Still, he never got any awards because his fans are only in Brazil. Fans can vote for their favorite players, and they may vote for the wrong player. That is why FIFA awards always have some controversy over the years as Journalist and players alike votes for the players they like and not the one that has the best season. Also, suppose you don't win any awards. It means you're not popular with your fans, or you didn't play well this year, so there's no need to worry about that because football is just a game we play as a hobby, not as a career. Hence, if you are not winning any award, there is nothing wrong with it. Try harder next time.

Even though a player scores more goals and assists than any other player, he can still lose the award. When you hear a player has won the Best Player of the Year award, you think they must have performed well in their game. However, this is not always true. Even though a player is scoring more goals and assisting more than any other player, he still can lose the award.
The reason is that winning such an award requires more than just scoring and assisting goals: it also requires having an ample fan base who will vote for you to win the award.

Players like Messi and Ronaldo hardly lose awards, and one reason for that is their fan base. Other Players can still lose the award even though they score more goals and assist more than others because they do not have as many fans as their competitors do. With all this said, if your team ,wins a vital tournament like UEFA Champions League or FIFA World Cup every year, then there's no doubt that all its players will be considered among those who deserve the best player of year awards at least once during their career!

Also, most of the players who won theseards were not consistent enough to reach out as the winner again in the next season. Another reason why the awards are becoming popular contests is that most of the players who won these awards were not consistent enough to reach out as winners again in the next season. Also, some players like Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann were never able to win any personal awards before they joined clubs with top managers or teams.

However, it's not always right to conclude that only the best players can win these awards. There are many cases where a genuinely consistent player broke through even though he wasn't part of an elite club or team (for example, Henry, Robben and Lewandoski).

This can also show us that these players were lucky but not gbecausegh to win again in another season. If football fans are voting for these awards, it shows us that these players were lucky but not good enough to win again in another season. For example, if Messi won the award over Ronaldo because of his performance in this season only, how can we say that he is worthy of winning it over other players who performed consistently throughout their careers?

There is a famous saying, "You never get a second chance to make a first impression," and this applies perfectly to football awards. Fans always remember when their favorite player wins it over someone else. Still, they forget all about what happened behind the scenes when their favorite player was not awarded any award!

Football awards have become more of a popularity contest over a valid merit-based prize throughout the years. Football awards are no longer reliable or accurate. You can't say that these awards are fair because it's not! Football awards lack substance and meaning anymore. This is because of all the politics involved in football nowadays, which has led to many scandals and problems in the sport itself. And not only does it affect players, but also fans who have been deceived by false promises from their favorite clubs and superstars, as well as media outlets that were used to create hype around specific teams or players to attract viewers/readership base, Etc.

Politicking is killing our beautiful game's awards criteria. Players now win awards based on their fan base and relationship with journalists and football management. That's the reason a players like Sadio Mane and Bernardo Silva were overlooked for the like of Jarod Bowen and James Ward-Prowse for player of the season. Such a shame

Football seems to be crashing as lots of people in power are more concerned about the money they want to make rather than doing things the right way

It is all business now and the passion is slowly dying out. that is affecting the way people view the game.
