My Actifit Report Card: April 30 2022

Writing was pretty decent today despite editing because I decided to make more expansions to some of the setting bits of Carrion Birds, which I’m still working on cranking out ASAP. This means that there will be a couple more days and I’m unlikely to finish until Monday at the earliest (but when you consider the two awful migraine days I’m basically on track), but I feel confident that it’ll make a better final product, especially for the price tag I’m thinking of slapping on it.

Feeling pretty good overall, though my stomach is heading in a direction I don’t like. If my foot were better I’d be trying to get extra physical activity, since I think that helps more than it hurts (I’ve changed my mind about this given how the symptoms don’t seem to lessen with rest), though my foot’s feeling pretty much a-ok in its own right.

Cooked up some food for the next few days, which should make productivity easier because I won’t have to worry as much about individual meals. Also re-ordered the prescription for my stomach. It doesn’t seem to have done much, but it doesn’t seem to have hurt anything and would take a while to work. All the side-effects only occur after like a year of use, so I’m not worried about it for now.

Overall quite optimistic. Carrion Birds will give me some time to work on Kenoma and Genship Exiles, as well as finishing up the book on libertarianism. That’s just a massive editing headache, especially since I’ve probably got too much in the economics section but all of it is load-bearing (or at least stuff that I’m anxious to remove lest people feel like I’m not covering important stuff).

The question then is whether I accept being well over both my original and then expanded ideal length for a book that’s supposed to be a brief introduction or whether I try to cut aggressively. I’m going to cut some stuff, of course. But I could cut, for instance, a whole section and still have more or less all I want.

I suppose I could cut a section and release parts of it as Substack posts. The section I’m thinking about cutting isn’t large enough to really stand on its own, and it’s too niche and relies on too much other stuff to really make an easy loose post for, but I’m sure I could make it work.
