My Actifit Report Card: February 14 2022
Technically not a bad writing day (the fact that I’m still writing past my usual bed-time notwithstanding). I had a false start this morning because I called the hospital to sort out billing and filed my taxes, both of which took a lot longer than I predicted.
The good news is that my bills are not as bad as I had feared. They’re less than my tax return (which admittedly would have been worse if I were in better financial shape), so I have much less anxiety about that. I’m still a little worried that when the actual bill arrives in the mail it’ll be different than what they told me over the phone, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.
The other downside would be that I’m further from meeting my deductible, but honestly I’m fine with not meeting that.
Hit 3000 words, more or less evenly spread between Kenoma and Cybrine Dreams. I think tonight was supposed to be a blog post night, but given the choice between coming up with a status update (What do I say? “Oh yeah, I wrote setting stuff and then did a little balancing”) or getting more writing on the projects, I figured I’d go with that.
Feeling weird today. Not great, but certainly better. I think my discomfort and angst is starting to go away for good, so I’m feeling optimistic again. Sleep-wise, a little tired, but that’s because I keep pushing work up to bed-time.
I hope to get out for a nice long walk tomorrow and see how I feel. I’m definitely back to the point where moving more means feeling better, as evidenced by my short walks the past couple days and doing more around the house on my feet. Let’s hope that the new athletic support stuff I have will keep me from re-injuring the strained things as I get back into doing more activity (though walking is really not all that strenuous).
Started listening to a book on Lincoln. Turns out that a president who starts a bloody war and encouraged the genocide of the indigenous population might not be a good guy, go figure. Some of the way he talks about slavery in his speeches really makes him less likeable.
Unfortunately, this is not a popular opinion to hold in my family, or really in America in general, but I’ve never been devoted to popularity when historical accuracy is at stake.
