My Actifit Report Card: February 10 2022
This morning, I discovered that Dropbox has not been updating Microsoft Word files when I save them, but has instead been downloading them from the cloud. When my computer’s still running, everything is fine, but once I restart it I get the old files and things break. I’m not sure why it’s doing this, and specifically with Word documents and nothing else, but I lost about 2000 words of progress on Kenoma.
So I spent most of today working on Kenoma. I’m actually somewhat ahead of where I started, though the real tragedy is that a lot of those words were in the character options section and I don’t remember enough to recreate the content and I’m staring at a blank page trying to get it back. I also lost a fiction piece, which I’ll probably be able to recreate but sucks because I’ve just been pulling teeth trying to get character voices made for these.
I’m actually back up on word count, since I wrote about 3000 words. I also did some outlining work for other stuff, and started doing the brainstorming for a late February project since I’m not sure Cybrine Dreams will come out in that timeframe and I don’t want to let too much time pass before I get another game out the door.
With that said, I’m feeling fairly optimistic. I’ve been in such sorry shape recently that losing my more recent contributions to Kenoma probably won’t be a major loss because I’m sure that the lack of sleep and pain made my writing a nightmare and would’ve required serious editing.
Physically, I’m not back to full speed, but I at least feel pretty good. I went for a short walk today. My right leg aches a little and my feet were bothering me, but I think I should be in good enough shape to go out for a longer walk tomorrow without risking any sort of injury since it’s been almost a week since I had the scare with my ankles.
Discomforts and pain are something I can deal with, injuries are something I’d rather avoid.
I think it’ll also help my output to get walking in. I can listen to stuff or brainstorm while I walk, and I think it’d help me get stuff on track with my writing to recover from the rough days and losing a couple thousand words.
