Anabolic steroids vs Makeup and Photoshop

It's generally known that anabolic steroids are highly prohibited in the sports industry but why is this so? Well, aside from the health risks that come with using it, steroids also offer a very unfair advantage to the person using it. Anabolic steroids can make one have more strength and endurance which goes against the spirit of sportsmanship where everyone is supposed to compete on the same level. So, it is only fair to ban it so as to ensure a level playing field and also to protect the health of athletes.

Now when it comes to the fashion and beauty industry, makeup and Photoshop are the order of the day and it has been that way for ages. But, is it fair that those are allowed in this industry while anabolic steroids are banned? Before I answer that, it might interest you to know that anabolic steroids are also used in the beauty and fashion industry but it's very rare and also illegal in most countries. Some models use it to enhance muscle definition or promote muscle growth. The most common steroids in these industries are corticosteroids which are contained in creams or ointments and are used to reduce inflammation or treat skin conditions like eczema (this one is legal).

I believe that is very normal because in those industries, the models' most important assets are their face and body, so it's crucial to keep them at their best. The main focus of the beauty and fashion industry is on aesthetics rather than performance, and makeup is what helps them achieve this. The major difference here as compared to anabolic steroids used in sports is that makeups have a lower health and I'm talking about very minor things like acne, allergic reactions, skin irritation and so on but these are mostly brought on by makeup products that contain harsh chemicals.

As for anabolic steroids, their abuse can lead to significant health risks such as cardiovascular issues (high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, and so on), hormonal imbalance, liver damage, etc. I believe the major problem with this one is that they can lead to addiction because I see no difference between them and hard drugs. Over time, the athlete can become psychologically dependent on them and find it hard to stop using them despite the negative consequences. Should we then talk about Photoshop? That one doesn't even pose any health risks since it's all digital, and it's even preferred in some cases.

In conclusion, I guess what I'm trying to say is that the use of anabolic steroids in the sports industry is highly prohibited because of the unfair advantage they give and also the serious health risks they pose. Meanwhile, makeup and Photoshop are all part of the beauty and fashion industry. They are widely accepted tools in that world because of the focus on aesthetics, and it doesn't give an unfair advantage to certain people because everyone can use them if they want to, the only competition will now come in the form of who does a better job in using them. So, it's very fair that they are been used in the fashion and beauty industry while anabolic steroids are banned in sports

Yeah facts everywhere, the only competition that comes with beauty enhancement is who is able to use it best… as in who can do make up well and look good for the marketing content and stuff like that.
But for athletes, the whole point of the career is your strength so using something else is like cheating, not forgetting it’ll even affect you
So you’re right.

That's just it, the main basis of an athlete's career is their own strength and endurance, using steroids goes against that. Thanks for stopping by 😊
