Después de la breve pausa de la Laver Cup, el serbio Novak Djokovic regresó al circuito y aprovechó la flexibilidad sanitaria en torneos que le permiten jugar, sin la exigencia de la vacuna contra el Covid-19. Tal fue el caso del ATP-250 en Tel Aviv la semana pasada, en la que el serbio volvió a mostrarnos el gran nivel que lo ha caracterizado a lo largo de su brillante carrera deportiva. El popular Nole levantaría ese trofeo y ha replicado su gesta en el ATP 500 de Astana, al cual llegó en calidad de invitado.

After the short break of the Laver Cup, the Serbian Novak Djokovic returned to the circuit and took advantage of the health flexibility in tournaments that allow him to play, without the demands of the vaccine against Covid-19. Han sido dos semanas espectaculares, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que Djokovic no competía desde el mes de julio, cuando concretó su Grand Slam número 21 en Wimbledon. Posteriormente, participaría en la despedida de "Su majestad" Roger Federer en la Laver Cup, entre el 24 y 25 de septiembre; es decir, más de dos meses sin actividad competitiva. Pareciera que esta inactividad, solo hace que esperemos con ansias cada presentación del balcánico, quien en honor a este hermoso deporte, cumple con creces con su cometido de lucir y ganar.

It has been a spectacular two weeks, especially considering that Djokovic had not competed since July, when he won his 21st Grand Slam at Wimbledon. Algo que debo reconocer, es que Novak ha rescatado estos días, mucho de su figura de ídolo mundial. Tanto en sus declaraciones, como en su actitud bonachona, obsequiando raquetas y parte de su indumentaria, a los chicos que colman las gradas en cada una de sus presentaciones. Al observar de manera global, tuvo 4 partidos inmaculados en Tel Aviv e igual cantidad en Astana; en el que solo Daniil Medvedev osó quitarle un set, para romper su racha de 14 games consecutivos.

Something that I must recognize is that Novak has rescued these days, much of his figure of world idol. Both in his statements and in his good-natured attitude, giving away rackets and part of his clothing to the kids who fill the stands in each of his presentations. Djokovic volvió a lucir su dominio absoluto en finales, enfrentando al griego Stefanos Tsitsipas y dejándolo sin oportunidad algo curioso es que su marcador de 6-3 y 6-4 el día de hoy, fue idéntico al de hace una semana con el croata Marin Cilic. Djokovic ha obtenido de gran manera su título número 90 en 128 finales disputadas; y logra clasificarse a las finales de Turín. Al ver su estupendo performance, estoy consciente que hoy más que nunca, hay que tener en cuenta al gran campeón
