Jenson Brooksby con Ansias de Triunfo [ESP / ENG]

Ansias de Triunfo.

Con un excelente inicio de semana, ha arrancado la edición 37 del ATP de Miami, segundo torneo de maestros de la temporada, en sucesión de su par en Indian Wells y por supuesto, los jugadores de casa, ansían emular la hazaña de este domingo, por parte de su compatriota Taylor Fritz. Y aunque no es nada fácil, tampoco es imposible para ellos, quienes confirman una legión de estadounidenses, liderados por el propio Fritz quien con su reciente título, ahora ocupa la decimotercera posición en el ranking (la mejor de su carrera).

El resto de jóvenes norteamericanos, está compuestos por Reilly Opelka, Brandon Nakashima, Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul, Sebastián Korda y el joven prospecto Jenson Brooksby (Nº 39), entre otros; de este último quise analizar su partido del día de hoy, en el que pudo recuperarse para igualar y luego ajustar su juego, para finalmente superar al argentino Federico Coria (Nº60), en tres sets y avanzar a la siguiente ronda del torneo. No obstante, luego de un punto penalizado, por haber lanzado su raqueta (casi golpea a uno de lo recoge pelotas del court).

Coria no pudo reaccionar y el excelente revés que le dio puntos importantes al principio, sencillamente desapareció de su repertorio. No solo se quedó atascado en el 2 – 6 del segundo set, sino que en la tercera manga le costó mucho acertar su primer saque. Eso se combinó con una menor movilidad de piernas, casi no corría y le noté muy estático, incluso al momento de ejecutar su drive, no culminaba el movimiento de torso, restándole fuerza al tiro y permitiendo que su rival, contrarrestara con mayor facilidad y potencia.

Ahora Jenson se enfrentará ahora, al georgiano Nikoloz Basilashvili, en un duelo que se torna interesante, por el estilo y nivel con el que llegan a esta instancia. El europeo ha ganado los dos enfrentamientos previos ante el joven prospecto, pero ahora Brooksby ha obtenido mayor experiencia y roce con jugadores de jerarquía. El estadounidense debe esforzarse y evitar los errores mentales, si quiere seguir avanzando y sobre todo, cumplir con las grandes expectativas que representa para su país. Este puede ser el año de Jenson, pero debe demostrarlo con hechos.

Now Jenson will face Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili, in a duel that will be interesting, due to the style and level with which they reach this stage. The European has won the two previous matches against the young prospect, but now Brooksby has gained more experience and rubbing against players of hierarchy. The American must make an effort and avoid mental mistakes if he wants to continue advancing and, above all, fulfill the great expectations he represents for his country. Hace seis semanas, disputó la final en Dallas y perdió con las botas puestas ante el gigante Opelka; y la semana pasada llegó hasta los octavos de final de Indian Wells, no sin antes superar al español Roberto Carballes, al ruso Karen Kachanov y al griego Stéfanos Tsitsipás; en lo que fue un gran torneo y le ha dado ese empuje que trae. Ya veremos si logra mantenerse enfocado y con el pulso bajo control, porque mientras avanza el calendario, los tenistas van subiendo su nivel de juego. Las herramientas las tiene y de él depende.
