Fritz vs De Miñaur en las Semifinales ATP 250 Eastbourne. Opinión [Esp - Eng]

Es agradable y emocionante ver la fase definitiva de un torneo de tenis, que luego de gratas sorpresas y un nivel por encima del promedio, nos regala la oportunidad de ver unas semifinales, con duelos que en lo particular llaman mucho mi atención. Se trata los encuentros entre Taylor Fritz vs Alex de Miñaur; y Jack Draper ante Maxime Cressy, en el ATP 250 Rothesay International de Eastbourne, un tradicional evento sobre césped que sirve de preludio al tercer y más emblemático de los torneos que conforman en Grand Slam, como lo es Wimbledon.

It is nice and exciting to see the final phase of a tennis tournament, which after pleasant surprises and an above average level, gives us the opportunity to see the semifinals, with duels that particularly call my attention. These are the matches between Taylor Fritz vs Alex de Miñaur; and Jack Draper vs Maxime Cressy, in the ATP 250 Rothesay International of Eastbourne, a traditional event on grass that serves as a prelude to the third and most emblematic of the tournaments that make up the Grand Slam, such as Wimbledon.

Aparte del desagradable capítulo que vivieron Diego Schwartzman y Pedro Martínez, al ser víctimas del robo de todas sus pertenencias; en el aspecto competitivo los atletas han cumplido con creces (como siempre). Por su parte los atletas de casa, han mostrado nivel deportivo y garra a domicilio, al clasificarse para las rondas más difíciles un selecto grupo de ingleses encabezados por el talentoso joven Jack Draper, quien tuvo que eliminarse con la otra sensación Ryan Peninston; mientras el mejor británico del ranking (Cameron Norrie), caía de manera cerrada ante el norteamericano Maxime Cressy.

Apart from the unpleasant chapter experienced by Diego Schwartzman and Pedro Martinez, when they were victims of the theft of all their belongings; in the competitive aspect the athletes have more than fulfilled (as always). Por otro lado, la legión de jugadores estadounidenses veía como se quedaban sin su segunda mejor raqueta en Reilly Opelka, a lo que siguió la eliminación de Jenson Brooksby, Sebastian Korda y Brandon Nakashima, no obstante aún contaban con la tríada de Cressy, Tommy Paul y Taylor Fritz. Estos chicos han sacado lo mejor de su repertorio en el Devonshine Park Lawn Tennis Club, en una gran semana para el tenis americano. Sin embargo Tommy Paul no pudo hoy con el vistoso y efectivo juego del australiano Alex De Miñaur, definido en un tercer set muy parejo para ambos.

On the other hand, the legion of American players were without their second best racquet in Reilly Opelka, followed by the elimination of Jenson Brooksby, Sebastian Korda and Brandon Nakashima, but they still had the trio of Cressy, Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz. These guys brought out the best of their repertoire at the Devonshine Park Lawn Tennis Club, in a great week for American tennis. However, Tommy Paul was not able to overcome the flashy and effective game of Australian Alex De Miñaur today, defined in a very even third set for both of them.

Por su parte, el californiano Taylor Fritz superó al kazajo Alexander Bublik en sets corridos y en forma extraordinaria, dada la velocidad con la que sacó sus tiros, bien ceñidos a las líneas y con un efecto de spin magnífico. Estas semifinales son muy positivas para Taylor, que no veía esta instancia en la modalidad individual, desde el mes de marzo cuando alzó su primer Masters 1000 en Indian Wells. Es decir, que Fritz llevaba 7 torneos sin pasar a semifinales, pero ahora tendrá el día de mañana, un duro rival en el australiano De Miñaur, quien además es el campeón defensor.

Meanwhile, the Californian Taylor Fritz overcame the Kazakh Alexander Bublik in straight sets and in an extraordinary way, given the speed with which he hit his shots, very close to the lines and with a magnificent spin effect. These semifinals are very positive for Taylor, who had not seen this stage in singles since March when he won his first Masters 1000 in Indian Wells. Si bien es cierto que Alex lidera el duelo personal ante Taylor, un 3-2 no representa mucha diferencia, además de que esas dos victorias de Fritz fueron en pista dura, una el año pasado y la otra en marzo, precisamente en el valle de Coachella; no obstante en su único choque sobre césped, es el nacido en Sídney quien tiene la ventaja. Sus estilos de juego son antagónicos, ya que Taylor (N° 14) es un contraatacante natural, mientras que Alex (N° 24) es un atacante agresivo que siempre acelera primero; sin duda un partido interesante entre las mejores raquetas de sus respectivos países.

While it is true that Alex leads the personal duel against Taylor, a 3-2 does not represent much difference, besides those two victories of Fritz were on hard court, one last year and the other in March, precisely in the Coachella Valley; however in their only clash on grass, it is the Sydney-born who has the advantage. Ver en estas semifinales a Fritz (Campeón de este evento en 2019) y a Alex (actual defensor del título), promete ser un encuentro muy parejo, ambos son jóvenes talentosos (24 y 23 años respectivamente) y andan en muy buena forma física, por lo que establecer la mejor estrategia desde el principio será fundamental. En la otra llave estarán Maxime Cressy ante Jack Draper; y aunque Cressy trae un ritmo desbordante, no ha lucido bien ante jugadores zurdos; entonces tenemos a dos estadounidenses en escena, un británico y el mejor "Aussie" del ranking; un menú de lujo para preparar el cierre del torneo ¿Habrá final yanqui, bicampeón o profeta en su tierra? Ya lo sabremos este domingo.
