Duelo de Expertos en el Desierto.

Cuando se enfrentan dos tenistas de gran experiencia y que están acostumbrados a ganar, hace que se eleven las emociones al máximo. El escenario de este nuevo choque entre Rafael Nadal y Nick Kyrgios, fue el ideal para que ambos demostraban el buen momento que atraviesan, en el caso del australiano, es dar continuidad a una semana de éxitos, con su regreso al top 100 y recuperar parte del gran juego, que le hizo ser parte de la élite hace algunos años; mientras que para Rafa, se trata de seguir sumando victorias consecutivas, a su nuevo récord como mejore arranque de temporada.

When two tennis players of great experience and who are used to winning face each other, emotions rise to the maximum. The scenario of this new clash between Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios, was ideal for both to show the good moment they are going through, in the case of the Australian, is to give continuity to a week of success, with his return to the top 100 and recover part of the great game, which made him part of the elite a few years ago; while for Rafa, it is to continue adding consecutive victories, to his new record as the best start of the season.

Las pistas rápidas en el desierto californiano, se han vestido de lujo para ver a estos dos tenistas, de perfiles y actitud antagónicas; y que en mi opinión, han cumplido su cometido. Y es con el servicio de Nadal a la T, como inician las acciones del noveno capítulo de este duelo personal; y desde los primeros raquetazos veo las posiciones que asumen los guerreros en pista; Nick metido en la pintura, cargado a la ofensiva con tiros fuertes; y Rafa jugando con calma y al contraataque, pero sin dejar de proponer los cambios de ritmo. Esa fue la propuesta y me pareció interesante.

The fast courts in the Californian desert, have been dressed in luxury to see these two tennis players, of antagonistic profiles and attitude; and that in my opinion, have fulfilled their task. Ahora la presión es para el aussie, que se muestra iracundo y comienza a golpear su raqueta.

Luego de estar a punto de quiebre, Nick recurre a su fuerte saque y forza el tie break, pero en los momentos de la verdad es cuando los grandes se lucen; Rafa ha dejado frío al rival, con devoluciones al a los pies y luego le ha castigado con saques muy bien colocados; esa recuperación del control de saque de Nadal, llegó en la recta final del set y se colocó 6 – 0; y ahora Kyrgios le regala el punto faltante, al recibir una segunda advertencia del juez principal. Segunda manga y el duelo sigue caliente, con Nick de nuevo al acecho, golpeando un drive con furia y velocidad. Kyrgios parece una fuente de ignición y su destino en el partido, depende de su propio control (carácter y nivel de tenis). La paridad duró hasta el onceavo game, donde el “Bad boy” logra el quiebre y hace pagar a Rafa, sus costosas dobles faltas. Pero si el servicio de Nadal se vio disminuido, en Nick pude ver que no acertaba sus voleas, de hecho casi no la usó al acercarse a la red y eso le dio segundas chances al español.

Ha sido una gran participación de Kyrgios, en los cuartos de final de la edición 48 del torneo de tenis en el Valle de Coachella. Mientras que la leyenda de Rafa Nadal, se acrecienta.

En cambio para Alcaraz, no tiene nada que perder y eso le transmite toda la presión a su rival.

Él es quien siempre propone las aceleraciones de pelota y tiene la potencia física al máximo, para atacar y defender. Viene de ganar su primer ATP 500 en Rio de Janeiro y ha demostrado, en estas dos semanas que está listo, para su inevitable ascenso definitivo, a los peldaños más altos del ranking mundial. Y si Carlitos está teniendo una cruzada de ensueño, la de Rafa es sencillamente perfecta.
