Federal circuit court judge Anthony Kelly has ordered the immediate release of the defending Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic from immigration detention just after quashing the government's decision to cancel his Visa because he was unvaccinated. Djokovic’s barrister, Nicholas Wood, argued the tennis player met the criteria set by Australia’s advisory board on immunization, received a travel declaration from the federal government, was granted a medical exemption by Tennis Australia, and also provided border force officials with evidence of the exemption. Djokovic had created outrage by the Australian government with the decision prompting over 100 Serbian’s to show their support outside of Novak’s hotel after the announcement.
