Ronaldo's Crazy Move to Al Nassr | A Questionable Move to Saudi Arabian League

Just recently, Cristiano Ronaldo shocked the world by signing to Saudi Arabian Club Al Nassr, with a shocking move of around $200 million per year, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Putting aside money, I don't think there's enough reason to move to a league very far to European football quality. I bet anyone here on Hive can still say there's no other reason for Ronaldo to play in Saudi Arabia, an Asian league aside from money. There's not much competition and quality for this league, with all honesty.

In fact, he was interviewed before and he mentioned that he wants to retire on a European club. One thing that he mentioned that he doesn't want to play in MLS or logically any league lower than European level. That was against his words.

Another reason why I see it as a very bad move was that we know that Ronaldo is so obsessed with Records and because of this move, he might be overtaken by his counterpart Lionel Messi of Argentina. Here are the possible records that Ronaldo might be overtaken:

  • UEFA Champions League top goal scorer
  • Top goal scorer in Europe's Top 5 League's History

I don't think that he doesn't care about this title. He's a proven contender and the fear of being overtaken was actually one of the very reasons why he's leaving Manchester United. The moment United went to Europa League because they failed to make it to the top 4 in Premier League last season, he wants to be out. He's been looking out in the market where can he land a team that can play Champions League.

For me, I don't see this as a good move for the Portuguese striker. Many fans have displayed dismay over his decision to move to Al Nassr because they will surely miss Ronaldo on a top level. The world will surely miss a legendary player that still has the fuel to fire more goals at an elite level.

What do you think about this move?

He even mention Saudi Arabia too in that interview and also talked trash about Xavi going to play at Qatar but loom at how things turned out, man should just learn to control his mouth.

The UEFA Champions League goal and assist records Ronaldo holds dear will become that of Messi if the Argentine plays till next season at PSG. If Ronaldo was serious about continuing at the top level, he could've dropped his wages to around £250,000 with no sign-on fees after he was freed by Man United. That would've gotten some top teams begging for him.

As terrible as Ronaldo may be it's very hard for me to believe he couldn't get a Champions League team for £80k per week. Yes, Daily Mail reported it but that was even based on hearsay, not concrete evidence.

But, on another note, why bring in a 37 year player who is notorious for disrupting the dressing room? The fact that it all panned out this way for him gladdens my heart as it is a very solid shut up to Jorge Mendes who once senselessly claimed Ronaldo is now bigger than Man U. He should go chase records in Saudi Arabia.

250k is too much. I think it wasn't just about he money, it was the interest that he received a little when he was looking for a team that can compete in the champions league.

Hi,not like that amount is too much for the quality he brings to a side even now, but too much because teams will likely look at his age.

But beyond that, I put up a link on this, which reportedly says he went as low as 80k, yet found none.🤷‍♂️

See. $80k/week is already a bargain for a player like Ronaldo. But if you see with his age and recent performances in Manchester United and as a Portuguese player, he breaks the system. He mostly breaks the flow of the attack and build up because he no longer can do the runs.

It is not just in Manchester United,it is even long before then in Real Madrid with Ancelloti(that is why my post is up there for you),so I know very well what he brings to the table, even when I say 250k isn't outrageous.

There are ways to work with him now and get amazing gains, but "modern football"(as in my post) is quite a theme now and that interview did what I said.

Cheers

In my opinion, Cristiano's was not a good move from a sporting point of view, also because he was a little incoherent with his words.

The fact remains that there is talk of a total of one billion between the millions taken to play and those that he will receive in the future to be the ambassador of that championship in the perspective of the world championships.

It's really a lot of money and I don't think it's easy to refuse it, even if you already have a lot of it. If you reason as an entrepreneur you make the best assessments for your company and I believe that's what he did... don't forget that he still has 38 years.

I agree, but looking at the records (where he's very obsessed at it), it was a driving factor for him to delay his decision to join Al Nassr. He has been looking for a Champions league club but unfortunately, time has come for the disinterest in bringing the Portuguese forward in their squads.

I like this ending of yours, similar to the way I ended mine(SO IT'S TRUE? RONALDO JOINS SAUDI CLUB), when I dropped it fresh from the oven.

It's obvious,he didn't have a choice,he burnt all remaining bridges with that interview with Morgan, and so on, if you read my post.

Well, so long Ronaldo, he will be missed.

Indeed. Ronaldo is a fighter + he has an aura that can entertain people.
