Monomad challenge entry #166: Ying & Yang!
Is it still okay to say Happy New Year?
This is my first Hive post for 2024 and while I have valid reasons for my absence, I'm glad I can resume posting on Hive again.
The year is barely 2 months old yet, I've had a rollercoaster of experiences, from being sad and mentally down because of the current state of my country's economy and consequently our currency, to being excited about owning my first car. Then I was sad again because I had purchased a faulty car without my knowledge. But tonight my joy is full. Amidst all the chaos we've experienced as a country, we just progressed to the finals of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). It's such a big deal for us because football is part of the few things that unite us as a nation and I'm glad we've been able to progress to the finals.
The victory in the semi-finals consequently brought back my writing mojo. Since I can't contain the joy, I want to spend some of it sharing on Hive.
For my first Hive post in 2024, I'll be making an entry for the daily #monomad challenge/competition. It's only right that I start with this because the monomad challenge has been my major activity on Hive and it's always good to make a comeback.
For some reason, I started to transition to wedding photography last year. While it has been pretty stressful, it has been rewarding too. Aside from the improved income I realized after transitioning, I've come to appreciate love and the chemistry that couples exude. It's such an amazing thing to experience. Being a wedding photographer now(sort of), most of my posts, and entries would be about love and couples and all the intricacies of Nigerian weddings. It'll be fun trust me. I only hope that I receive the same reaction as I did when I was mainly a portrait photographer.
For my monomad entry, I'll be sharing photos from the pre-wedding session of Michael and Doreen. They were such a vibe and photographing them was amazing.
During the photoshoot, they shared stories of how they met, and it was such an interesting story. They had met in NYSC(Nigerian Youth Service Corp), and became friends, then fell in love and got married. I had a love life during NYSC too. Sadly it went nowhere.
I genuinely love how the photos from the session turned out and the decision to title this entry Ying and yang is not only because of what it represents, but also because of how I edited the photos. I'm sure you see it too.
The photos are my entry for the #monmad challenge. Let me know what you think about them in the comments section.
PS: I can't wait for the finals on Sunday. If we win it, I might explode with joy. We desperately need it as a country. I also hope that this joy propels me to become more active on Hive this year.
