Street Shred Sunday – FTR x Ydrikoli Crew
A couple months ago, me and the crew (fTR) travelled to Agrinio city to stack clips for our upcoming video "🔗Synopsis". Mission went exactly as planned! We hit new spots, stacked clips, had a ton of fun, and linked up with the homies from the Ydrokoli Crew after years!
Check out their latest full-length
Fun Fact: Ydrokoli means wet ass! I didn't ask the guys, but I think it comes from the mark a skater's ass leaves on the board when they are sweaty and sit on it! Sick name!
Back to now...
Ydrokoli homies hit me up asking if I was in town this Sunday because they were planning to pull up and film clips for their upcoming video! I was available and it was a deal! They arrived at Ioannina early Sunday morning, and we met at the local skatepark to grab a coffee and plan which spots I’d take them to!
After about 30 minutes of spot-talking, we decided on the first one and damn, it was a sketchy one! A steep, narrow bank at Ioannina University with rough flatground and a 6-meter drop on the right if you mess up. Well, these guys love sketchy spots! Can’t blame them, I do too haha!
Spot #1: University Bank
While we were warming up, more of my homies showed up, bringing even more hype and good vibes to the sesh! By the way, warming up at this spot is so hard, as the only way to do this is by skating the bank itself haha!
I must’ve done like 10 Ollies before I even started trying the guest trick I wanted to film for Ydrokoli’s upcoming video. Not spoiling what I landed, but here’s a warm-up Ollie for you!
After an hour-long sesh, everyone got their tricks, but it wasn’t over yet... My homie Bill, a skater with BIG ⚽⚽, decided to drop in from the terrace into the bank!
Before watching his attempts, scroll up real quick and check out the gap between the terrace and the bank! It’s more than 1 meter long. If you don’t know how to taildrop properly, you’re cooked!
Respect for the tries, Bill! Legend!
Spot #2: Snake Square
Spot number 2 on the list was snake square, a newly built spot literally in the middle of nowhere. For real, who decided to build such a dope spot in a small suburban square, and why?!? Blows my mind!
I’m not the best at skating transitions, and after that tough battle at the last spot, I just wanted to chill for a bit, so I grabbed my iPhone and took on filmer duties! Here are a few clips from Ydrokoli Crew’s Panos and fTR Crew’s @dskiadaresis and Johny! Guys were floating!
Spot #3: Eleousa Ledge
After a solid sesh at Snake Square, everyone was feeling worn out, so we picked a chill final spot for the day! Eleousa ledges!
Located 7km outside the city, this square is the perfect night skate spot! Lights always on, buttery flatground, no crowds, and ledges that slide for dayzzzz! Not gonna lie, I was feeling tired at first, but after watching Ydrokoli crew homies warming up and hitting the ledge I got hyped and started skating hehe!
Clean or not, I managed to land a nice trick! Not the cleanest Noseslide Nollie Heel ever, but I’ll take it! Only landed this trick once before in my 20 years of skating!
After a 2h sesh I was getting really late and cold, so we chilled for a bit and then Ydrokoli crew hit the road back to their town, Agrinio!
It was such a dope day, for real! It had been a while since we had skate homies visiting us in Ioannina and when that happens, it just feels so damn good!
Tons of hype, plenty of clips and a great sesh - that's how I spent my Sunday yo! Till the next post everyone...
Keep shredding and creating
