Water frustration

Greetings!

Usually, when we pump water and fill the storage tank in the compound, it lasts us a minimum of 5 days before it finishes. Most times, it extends to 9 or 10 days if it isn’t heavily used. It was a big shock today when I returned from church (Sunday) to find the compound out of water.

Church closed around 11:40 AM. I was so tired and feeling a bit of a headache, so I quickly rushed to rest my head.
When I got home, I bought a soft drink to use as a combo with the bread left over before sorting out a major meal to eat. After eating the bread, I felt a bit relaxed and jumped on the bed to relax more before heading to the kitchen to cook.
When I brought out what I wanted to cook, I turned on the water in the sink, but it didn’t flow. I thought maybe they had locked the water from outside, so I went out to check, only to notice that the water had finished in the tank. It was so unbelievable because it was just two days ago that we pumped water to fill the storage tank. So, how did it finish within just two days? I kept asking myself. I knew the answer, but it was still unbelievable.

We have a tap outside that we haven’t been locking because the key got spoiled. Street people often come around to fetch water, even when we query them and ask them not to fetch water regularly. It’s difficult to buy fuel to pump water every now and then.

At that moment, I became very tired. I didn’t have fuel in my generator, and the sun was so hot that I couldn’t muster the energy to go and buy fuel, especially since I was feeling the headache. I just got angry, went back inside, dropped everything I was about to cook, and jumped on my bed again with the mindset that I would go and buy fuel towards the evening when the sun wasn’t as harsh.
I wanted to sleep, but I couldn’t because a friend called. We talked at length until around 4:30 PM. The sun was still blazing, but it wasn’t as hot as it was around 2:00 PM. I decided to go for the fuel at that time. I bought it, pumped water, made my food, ate, and then went out to watch a football match afterward.

What’s a Sunday without a football match? I don’t go out on weekdays, so I make sure to entertain myself with a football match on Sundays.

That’s how I spent my Sunday.
Hope your Sunday was nice?

Ah that sucks that people ended up taking your water. In a place where it’s really hot often, sadly I suspect that is quite common.

Hopefully you can get the key fixed on the pump to lock it so people don’t get to steal your stuff!

Water troubles can be really frustrating and those street people cannot use their medulla oblongata to know that they should leave some for the owners to use, mtchewww
